Part 1. Sorry for delay but needed to gain consent to show pictures of everyone at the party.
This week we celebrated the home first opening as Pentwyn Hospital 100 years ago. We had a fabulous day and many of the nurses who used to work when ur was a hospital shared the day with us which was special. We started the day off listening to a talk by Dr Armstrong himself shortly before he died. Then a bbq and garden party . Thank you Delyth and Ryan for doing a fab bbq and evening buffet. Massive thank you to Sharon's Singing School for saving the day with a very short notice stand in concert and also to Julia Demaid for making the amazing cake and cupcakes and Charles one if our residents for playing the organ for us. Thank you all the staff for making it special by dressing up and being brilliant as usual...part 2 to follow

Panic over. Thank you to all who helped but we now have an entertainer.
Panic time! Our singer is unwell and unable to sing for us this afternoon. Is there anyone local who can entertain us at 2pm please? We are having a garden party today to celebrate the home being 100 years.

Tomorrow we are celebrating Ty Pentwyn being open 100 years since 1925. We are celebrating Dr Fergus Armstrongs legacy, the staff and residents/patients who have an attachment to the hospital/home. We are the last cottage hospital left in the Rhondda. If anyone would like to attend our garden party from 12.15 please come join us. We are in the garden with a bbq and then we have a singer at 2pm. Fancy dress also with the theme " through the decades". Join us from 12:15.

Today we remembered Hiroshima.80 years since that atomic bomb was dropped with such destruction. Sue the manager recently visited Hiroshima and shared her experiences and photos with residents and staff with a talk about the war and Hiroshima. Some things must never be forgotten in such an unsafe world.

We are pleased to say that normal service has been resumed and we have electricity again. Thank you for your cooperation.

We politely ask that nobody come and visit today as power lines have been damaged near the care home that has knocked out all our electricity inside the home. It can be dangerous for you to visit. All residents are fine so do not worry. National grid are on their way to us so normal service will hopefully be resumed shortly.
