Troon Therapies Be extra kind to yourself. You have been dealing with the emotional impact of these past several months. Negative emotions can linger and re-emerge for us all.

As a Trauma-Informed Somatic Practitioner, my therapeutic approach to health and well-being is deeply rooted in over 25 years of experience, and enriched by a diverse range of healing modalities. It is normal to have lots of different feelings, from worry to waves of panic and feelings of anxiety. Our brain wants predictable activity and close contact so we can relax our vigilant nervous system. Social and physical distancing has interrupted this predictable activity and close contact. As a result, we are experiencing emotional numbness and vulnerability. Practices and body-based approaches that manage stress reactions in the moment are crucial for us right now. A body-based approach, through embodied, trauma informed yoga and attuned touch, is important for our mental health and well-being. It is essential that we foster counter emotions and create a safe space within ourselves. It differs from a resolution where the focus is on fixing flaws. Instead, it becomes a seed that's planted in the subconscious, where it guides self transformation by connecting to your inner wisdom and purpose.

Resolutions, Personal Promises, and Symbolic Starts

What can begin as a soft start to the new year can end with disappointment, self doubt and frustration. Sound familiar? Fear not there is hope.

The top new year resolution is typically health. Whether it's to exercise more, eat better or lose weight. We set the goal, trying to use will power and self discipline to prevent perceived 'failure'.

Taking a compassionate approach to any of our goals is softer, it's kinder and through practice we will flourish. Self compassion is a powerful tool for motivation and resilience.

The Self-Compassion Donut Study, shows that self-kindness reduces overeating.

Self-criticism about indulging often leads to more unhealthy eating, while self-compassion promotes balance.

However long your resolution lasts congratulate yourself. If you've been able to maintain it for two weeks, brilliant. That shows strength and determination. πŸ‘

Sharon is truly exceptional. She has an incredible ability to create an immediate sense of calm, and her knowledge and skill across all treatments is outstanding. Over the last few years I've experienced regular therapies with her β€” including reflexology, bamboo massage and hot stone massage β€” and every session has been hugely beneficial. I always leave feeling better both physically and mentally, but one session in particular stood out. I asked her to focus on a specific area of my body, and she completely eliminated pain that I had been living with constantly for months. The relief was remarkable.
