Troon Therapies Be extra kind to yourself. You have been dealing with the emotional impact of these past several months. Negative emotions can linger and re-emerge for us all.

As a Trauma-Informed Somatic Practitioner, my therapeutic approach to health and well-being is deeply rooted in over 25 years of experience, and enriched by a diverse range of healing modalities. It is normal to have lots of different feelings, from worry to waves of panic and feelings of anxiety. Our brain wants predictable activity and close contact so we can relax our vigilant nervous system. Social and physical distancing has interrupted this predictable activity and close contact. As a result, we are experiencing emotional numbness and vulnerability. Practices and body-based approaches that manage stress reactions in the moment are crucial for us right now. A body-based approach, through embodied, trauma informed yoga and attuned touch, is important for our mental health and well-being. It is essential that we foster counter emotions and create a safe space within ourselves. I missed a meet up with my pal Martin last week. Clash of the diaries. We worked together quite a few years back. I was the therapist for a well known group in Belfast - Conflict Trauma Resource Centre. CTRC looks at the legacy of trauma, pain and suffering. That group and the similar ones I worked in set the stage for how I was going to develop as a therapist. That experience, and being a veteran myself has shaped my journey and practice.

"Even at my worse I feel safe with you". Monday's feedback from a client who experiences health anxiety.
A safe space holds or ought to hold a safe therapist. An emotionally regulated, calm therapist empowers their client to become safe enough to reconnect with their body. Crucial for trauma recovery. You cannot talk the body into safety. A feeling of safety is non verbal.
