💬 Why we always recommend using an independent mortgage advisor 🏡

This one comes from personal experience.

Around 20 years ago, we applied to our own mortgage lender for a further advance to build an extension — and got knocked back because I was self-employed. Even though we had a huge amount of equity in our home, they simply wouldn’t lend.

Four months later, I managed to buy a new house entirely in my own name. How? Because instead of going direct to a lender, I went to a good independent mortgage advisor — someone who knew the lending criteria across all banks and applied to the right one.

Fast forward 20 years, and honestly, nothing has changed. Not all mortgage advisors are the same. A good one will understand your circumstances and know exactly which lender to approach — and we see it every day.
