Ingrown toenails…

They happen when the edge of your nail decides to grow curly or twisted and dig into the skin. It’s usually the big toe ( bit, not always!). They normally start as a little ouch and rarely just grow out. The can quickly turn into a red, swollen, don’t-you-dare-touch-it situation

Our Podiatrists can conservatively treat ingrown toenails. If needed, we’re fully qualified to use local anaesthetic and carry out nail surgery to sort the problem once and for all 💉

No more limping. No more wincing putting socks on. No more avoiding your favourite shoes

🚨 CLINIC DEBATE OF THE DAY 🚨

Stuart was casually browsing Wowcher deals (as you do) when he found a Comprehensive Online Podiatry Diploma Course with Certification!

Now he’s wondering… should he sign up? 🤔
Or, will his trusty qualification from 1983 do the job just fine?

Meanwhile, Natasha is quietly asking if her 4-year BSc might possibly cover the same content…

We’re no experts, but we’re thinking 40+ years of experience and a full university degree might just beat a bargain weekend diploma deal.

But what do you think? Get them both enrolled immediately?!

Don’t worry, whichever way this goes, your feet are in very safe (and fully qualified!) hands 👣

🦵🏻Why Carbon Fibre AFOs Are a Game-Changer🦵🏻

Carbon fibre AFOs (Ankle-Foot Orthoses) are designed to support your ankle and foot while helping you move more naturally and efficiently.

Here’s how they can benefit you:

✅ Lightweight design – Much lighter than traditional plastic AFOs, making them more comfortable for all-day wear.
✅ Energy return – Carbon fibre stores and releases energy as you walk, helping propel you forward and reducing fatigue.
✅ Improved walking pattern – Supports foot drop and ankle instability, helping you achieve a smoother, safer gait.
✅ Slim & discreet – Fits easily into most footwear with a low-profile design.
✅ Durable & strong – Built for high performance without adding bulk.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a neurological condition, or looking to improve mobility, a carbon fibre AFO can help you move with more confidence and less effort.

If you’d like to know whether a carbon fibre AFO is right for you, feel free to get in touch 🦵🏻

What actually is a verruca?

🦶🏽 Simply a verruca is a wart. Normally on the bottom of your foot. But, they can be anywhere on a foot, toes or on your hands. You can even get them on your knees!

🦶🏼Verruca or warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV).

🦶🏿Often look like a small patch of hard skin with tiny black dots and can feel like you’re walking on a pebble. But, they don’t have to have black dots.

👣 Common
🦶🏻Contagious
👣 Love pools, changing rooms & shared areas

If you think you’ve spotted one, pop us a message and we can sort it out! 💬

Look at Natasha’s grubby toenail 7 years post Nail Surgery. Which side do you think she has the Partial Nail Avulsion (PNA) on?

🦶 Nail Surgery – FAQs

Does nail surgery hurt?
The toe is fully numbed with local anaesthetic. The procedure itself is usually painless.

How long does it take?
Nail surgery is quick. To numb the toe is less than 15 minutes and the whole procedure is about 45 minutes

Will the problem come back?
In most cases, No. Nail surgery provides a long-term solution to recurring ingrown toenails.

How long is recovery?
You can go to work, school and normal activities the day after. A few weeks of dressing changes at home (keep that dressing dry) and that’s it!

Is it safe?
Yes! It’s a common, safe podiatry procedure performed routinely.

👉 If an ingrown toenail keeps coming back, we’re happy to talk through your options.
