A funny old start to the first weeks’ teaching of 2026.
Snow on Monday keeping many at home and then storm Goretti closing the studio on Thursday night!
Luckily, the studio is warm and cosy and we enjoyed going back to basics .
This week our fucus will be moving forwards, hopefully in much better weather!

Last week, backbends. Always fun to teach, especially when working to the bigger challenges. Well done to everyone who had a go at Kapotasna. Thankful, as ever, to Iyengar yoga, Guruji BKS Iyengar’s teaching and the development of the use of props.
Props improve what we can do, deepening awareness and supporting us in poses that may feel impossible.
After a far from relaxing but rather wonderful 2 days in London. I’m feeling quite inspired by the Millennium Bridge as viewed from the Tate Modern…..

Some Loft Studio archers from last week.
We broke the pose down into some interesting parts and variations and finished with full akarna dhanurasana. If you do practice this asana, also try interspersing a purvottanasana between attempts. Very interesting.
I am off today for a big birthday and to spend time with my best present, my son, on a surprise visit from Canada!
