Iyengar yoga is suitable for all levels of practice and there are classes to suit all ages and abilities.

Don’t forget…. No classes for his week as I am on holiday. An absolutely incredible three days at wonderful Green Man ❤️❤️❤️ Now some walking in Wales and Exmoor before coming back to paint and clean our lovely studio.

Two very contrasting days on Dartmoor and a proper chilled sheep. Simple things and all that….
This weeks classes will focus on developing a self practice as I will then be off for the rest of the month.
Next week you have Nick to look after you and all classes will be running. Then I close to redecorate and get cross with the bolsters that don’t fit back in the covers after washing!

Took this video today on Dartmoor - the Zen sheep helped me realise exactly what I want from my summer break.
Communing with nature, not overthinking, appreciating the view, enjoying the food. Just not the knock knees….
This weeks focus, working towards home practice, next week, lovely Nick and then two weeks redecorating and bolster battles!

There’s always more….
Something I say quite often in class. In this photo of me in parsvakonasana, I need more rotation in the trunk, more extension on my right, and more lift from the right ischium and what’s with the fingers 🤣
Meanwhile, I spent a lot of today tracking one of my favourites and all time greatest adventure buddy Sharon Wherry. As I drank my tea in bed this morning, she swam 2.4 miles. As I walked a decent 7.5 miles of woods and coast path, she cycled 112 miles. Now, as I put the finishing touches to a cauliflower cheese with additional veg picked from the garden, she is completing a marathon!!!
Always more, but not that much more!

We’re always told the forward bends are very calming and good for stress release. This is seldom the reality in my experience. If hamstrings and calves start screaming it is hard to feel calm. Sometimes there is just the value judgement about how far we haven’t folded.
I think last week we really found ways to release, to stay, and be quiet. Even I shut up! And went to the beach a lot.
This week twisting, with an unexpected focus

In this weeks class Loft Studio we are thinking about how to release stress in the body.
Life is stressful.
Developing understanding that we hold our stresses in our physical body and finding ways to release.
It’s a huge subject, one I’ll be hard pushed to cover in 90 minutes but at least you’ll get to do some hanging around.

Iyengar Yoga and the use of props.
Any body, can achieve any pose with the correct support.
We are all aging and changing, have things we can’t do and never could. We all sustain injuries from time to time or feel a extra stiff and in need of a little help.
Yoga is like life.
From time to time we meet challenges and need extra support. Our props are our friends and there to give it.
Adapting and evolving in our yoga practice, in turn, helps us to navigate our way through the world. Even, or especially, the tricky bits.
Sadly there is no tree at Loft Studio but all other props are provided

Monday morning and Wednesday morning last week. Still so very sorry to Monday evening and Tuesday for the cancellations.

Last week we were working towards back bends. I found myself saying ‘back bends are hard but so is life’ Funny the truisms that pop out when you’re not thinking too hard. Last week was not my favourite.

But, the more we can flex, change shape, adapt and evolve in our bodies, the better able we’ll be to deal with life’s battles and sadness’s. Our intelligence and mind follows the flow of our physical self.

I’m away from Tuesday (some very much needed time with my grand boy 🤩) but Nick will be there to look after you all. 🙏🙏🙏
