Feeding into the personal training world, while being a yoga teacher at my core has so many benefits. For me it means getting rid of the genetic step by step programme, and taking a second to listen to what students are really saying about themselves and what they want. It also means helping them look at things from a more gentle place of self love. By doing this we not only train the physical body into a place of better health, but also make sure the emotional and mind body are happy going along for the ride. Ultimately if your nervous system doesn't fuel what is happening then something will crash along the line.
Today I'm sharing a students journey of success. Years of struggling to ' lose weight' meant a restrictive and unsustainable programme, with inconsistent results. The numbers of the scale just didn't shift. Honestly I hate the scale, I find it so counter productive and disheartening. So we found a new goal for physical measurement... looking at fitting into a dress for a special occasion. The client said no way, I said have faith and trust the process.
The steps on the journey were simple, twice a week doing PT lead group classes, 1 yoga session a week and becoming consistent with food. Instead of minimising intake and skipping breakfast and lunch, making sure food was regular. All of this done with the approach of stop looking at the numbers of the scale and start enjoying your health and body again. I will point out the client has recently been diagnosed with lipodema as well, which has a massive effect on what results you will see .... but since January that dress now fits!! The client feels better in their skin, has a plan in place for lipodema management, can do a press up and a pull up, and so many other achievements. We will keep working, knowing that health is number 1 in priority and everything else just falls into place alongside it
