Thanks to our friends at South Wales Mobility & Driving Assessment Service and West of England Driving & Mobility Centre for hosting last week’s Driving Mobility regional meeting.

Our ADIs, Judith and Chris and Occupational Therapist, Lynette, had a great day talking with colleagues about the work we all do and sharing best practice.

💜 World Alzheimer’s Day – Sunday 21 September

A diagnosis of Alzheimer's does not always mean driving must stop immediately. In the early stages, many clients may still drive safely, but Alzheimer's is a progressive condition that gradually affects memory, attention, judgement, and reaction times.

🚗 Driving Mobility’s network of independent mobility centres provides professional driving assessments to help inform licensing decisions. A clinician and an approved driving instructor conduct these assessments, providing clients, families, and healthcare professionals with clear guidance.

🔹 If you are living with dementia or supporting someone who is, contact your nearest centre to discuss an assessment.
🔹 Healthcare professionals can also make direct referrals to ensure their clients receive timely support.

👉 If you have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's, contact the Alzheimer's Society for advice and support.

🌟CORNWALL MOBILITY DRIVING SCHOOL🌟
🚗THEORY SUPPORT🚗

Thanks to receiving a generous grant from the Motability Foundation, Cornwall Mobility is now able to offer 1:1 subsidised theory support for those learners who find learning new things difficult.

This support is aimed at those who are currently progressing with their driving lessons, but are struggling to pass the DVSA theory test, due to learning difficulties (sometimes undiagnosed).

We aim to offer tuition tailored to the individual in a kind, calm and relaxed way.

With the support of our Occupational Therapists, we can also help individuals who need it, to have reasonable adjustments put in place when they come to taking their test.

Our experienced ADI, Emma is able to offer this service from our Exeter centre. We have future plans to expand this service to our Truro and Plymouth centres.
