It's time for a new chapter in our women's health business journey. We are renaming from Kensa to Sennen Health.

You might have noticed all has been quiet with Kensa for a while.

At the end of 2023 although things were going well for Kensa we decided to take a pause. Our Women’s Health in the Workplace courses were taking off, our “All My Meds” app was gaining traction, and we were busy hearing and sharing health inequality stories, working on support and empowerment for women. There was also a continuing push by so many people we know and respect in the women's health space.

However, sometimes life doesn't align with your business ambitions.

Not only are we both female founders, we are also mums with other full time jobs. Caitlin Gould saw huge growth with her non-profit TECwomen CIC and Dr Rose Abbott was offered some wonderful opportunities to continue to practice medicine in the Urgent Care Setting that also worked around her family.

We also faced some of the challanges that inspired our work in women's health in the first place, with Rose going through two miscarriages, before having a beautiful baby boy this summer.

With all of this, we put ourselves, our friendship and our families first and decided to pause activities on Kensa while we got to grip with everything.

While taking a pause, we've been considering various options going forward. We have lots of ideas, especially Rose who is determined to help create positive change for women going through baby loss and complicated birth journeys.

In the meantime we have been approached by another wonderful south west based health company who loved the name Kensa Health and wanted to buy it. We didn't even realise that was a thing. But after some wonderful support from our legal team at Murrells we've agreed to the sale of the name and trademark for Kensa Health.

So, we are pleased to tell you that we are renaming the company as Sennen Health and looking forward to sharing with you more about this next chapter when we can.

Many thanks for your ongoing support and interest. Best wishes Rose & Caitlin

Got to love a business planning meeting in our favourite office space. We know we’ve been a bit quiet on here lately, but sometimes big ideas need time and space to breathe. Keep checking in for exciting new developments from our team in 2024!

When so many women are suffering we can and must do better! This is why we believe it is so important to have conversations about periods at work. Women also need to be supported and empowered to get the medical help they deserve and need. The time to fight stigma and bias is now!

Do you struggle to remember all your prescriptions, over the counter meds, supplements and vitamins? What about reactions or problems? Or the dosage you are on? With so much to remember and often complicated names, we created the FREE app All My Meds to help people keep track of all their medication in one place using simple photos and notes.

Next time Sarah can just show a picture of what medications she is taking, saving time and reducing stress in her appointments.

Baby Loss Awareness Week is the 9th-15th of October. This is an important week for women's health, but it also has an extra layer of significance for us at Kensa Health and to Kensa Founder Dr Rose Abbott

Rose is always amazing at sharing Henry's story and her experience around further recurring miscarriages.

We know this week can be hard for some who have gone through loss, but it is also a chance to spread awareness, understanding, empathy, and compassion.

It is time we all talk more about periods in the workplace. We are not suggesting everyone needs to have a long chat about their cycle in their team meetings, but removing stigma from something that impacts a huge proportion of the workplace can make a big difference. From being able to share challenges around chronic conditions like endometriosis to discussing the colour of the office chairs - open and honest conversations about periods can really help remove fear, stigma and exclusion.

Did you know that our free All My Meds App allows you to create folders so you can keep track of all your different medication needs in one place? You can then easily flick between your prescriptions, supplements, and even medications you want to make sure you don't take!

You can also keep track of other people's medications if needed.

So next time the doctor asks what medications you are on, you have a quick and easy way to check.

You may have heard of the "mental load" and the strain that can have on women's mental health. But how far does it extend? Many women find that they not only have to look after their own health, but they also end up looking after family members. Either partners, children or parents. This can range from booking appointments, taking time off work to provide care, and keeping track of all of the medications, prescriptions, and medical information.

At Kensa Health we like to call this the "medical mental load" and it is something we are trying hard to help support women with.

We love this quote from Women's Health Ambassador Professor Dame Lesley Regan DBE MD DSc FRCOG.

"To achieve sustainable change and improvement, it is important to recognise that better health for women extends beyond our health and social care system. Every sector in society has a role to play. When we get it right for women, everyone in our society benefits."

When a women's symptoms are dismissed time and time again, we know the system is broken. It shouldn't take someone 5 years to learn that their symptoms are perimenopause or even early onset menopause. Early detection of this conditions can improve treatment for women and help ensure they are getting the medical support they need. This is one of the reasons we are so passionate about providing training for GPs on women's health.
