If you are thinking of change for the new year and have struggled following through before on resolutions here’s five tips to help you succeed:

1. Set Specific and Realistic Goals: Instead of vague resolutions like “get fit” or “be happier,” set specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals. For example, instead of “exercise more,” say “work out for 30 minutes, three times a week.” This clarity makes it easier to track progress and stay committed.

2. Create an Action Plan: Break your resolutions down into actionable steps. Outline what you need to do daily, weekly, and monthly to achieve your goal. For instance, if your resolution is to read more, plan to read for 20 minutes each day and choose specific books ahead of time. Having a structured plan helps to keep you focused and organized.

3. Stay Accountable: Share your resolutions with a friend, family member, or a support group. Regular check-ins can keep you motivated and accountable. Consider using apps or journaling to track your progress and reflect on your journey. Having someone to discuss your successes and challenges with can make a big difference.

4. Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge and celebrate your progress along the way, no matter how small. This reinforces positive behavior and keeps you motivated. For example, if your goal is to lose weight, celebrate each milestone, whether it’s losing a pound or sticking to your workout schedule for a month.

5. Be Flexible and Practice Self-Compassion: Life can be unpredictable, and setbacks may occur. Instead of being hard on yourself when things don’t go as planned, practice self-compassion. Reflect on what went wrong, adjust your plan if necessary, and keep moving forward. Remember, it’s about progress, not perfection.

🤯It’s so easy to get caught up in the chaos of our thoughts and worries about the future or regrets about the past………
🤔However, true happiness and peace are only be found in the nOw the present moment.
🤗As Thich Nhat Hanh beautifully puts it, the present moment is the doorway to all moments.
To be in the present moment is not always easy and why it’s important to practice mindfulness and awareness.
You can start by taking a few deep breaths in then slowly breathing out and grounding yourself in the here and now.
🌻Pay attention to your senses - ☝️what do you see 👀 hear, 👂feel 🥰taste, 👅and smell 👃🏼 in this moment?
Engage fully in whatever you are doing, whether it’s having a conversation, eating a meal, taking a walk or on a stand up paddle board.

Let go of distractions and worries about the future or past, and focus on the beauty and richness of the present moment.
By being fully present you can cultivate gratitude, joy, and peace in your life.
🌻Remember, the present moment is a gift - cherish it, savor it, and let it guide you to understand true happiness.
