We've talked about why brushing your teeth is important, but it's just as vital to know how to brush properly.

An understanding of why is a great first step to giving you the incentive to brush correctly - but there's a little more to it than that.

Starting off with using a tooth brush that you like will help you keep the routine- an electric brush will help you clean more effectively.

Using a fluoride toothpaste, brush your teeth in 4 sections (top, bottom, left and right) and spend 30 seconds on each.

Make sure you angle your brush slightly towards your gums. Brush in small circles if using a manual toothbrush, or hold on each tooth for 5 seconds if using an electric toothbrush.

Try not to have any distractions so you can make sure you are paying attention to your technique.

Be gentle. Brushing too hard can irritate you gums.

And don't forget to brush your tongue!

We recommend you also use interdental cleaning aids to supplement your toothbrushing, such as tepe brushes or floss.
