** An Invitation to Think, Reflect and Deepen Practice – Workshops with Mick Cooper **
Lifetime Therapy is pleased to be hosting two in-depth workshops with counsellor, researcher and writer Mick Cooper on 20th and 21st June 2026, in Truro, Cornwall.
Mick is widely known for his work in existential therapy, pluralistic practice and the therapeutic relationship. These workshops offer a rare opportunity to spend time engaging with ideas that go beyond technique and into the heart of what therapy is really about.
Across the two days, Mick will be running the following workshops:
** Existential Therapy **
This workshop explores the existential foundations of therapeutic work: questions of meaning, freedom, responsibility and uncertainty, and how we meet the givens of human life. The focus is on how these themes show up in the therapy room—not as abstract philosophy, but as lived experience, for both clients and practitioners.
** Goals in Therapy **
This workshop looks closely at the role of goals in therapy: how they are shaped, negotiated, resisted or avoided. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, Mick invites reflection on whose goals matter, when goals support the work, when they may limit it, and how to work collaboratively and ethically with clients’ intentions for therapy.
Both workshops are reflective, relational and grounded in practice. They are suited to counsellors, psychotherapists, trainees and anyone interested in the deeper questions that sit beneath therapeutic work.
