The Importance of Companionship.

It can be lonely living alone and this can also contribute to poor mental health but staying mobile provides opportunities to see and talk to more people, which will have a positive effect on your mental well-being.

The local shops, library, community or day centre, local church and other groups are all out there with other people like you happy to chat over a cup of tea and provide the companionship that we all, as human beings, need.

If you need assistance with getting out and about, the Hubs Mobility Advice Service offers FREE information and guidance on optimal accessible travel options through our website and 15 of the 20+ Driving Mobility centres nationwide.

Whether you seek advice on using mobility scooters on trains or need insights into wheelchair-friendly buses, the Hubs teams are here to help you with all the necessary information for maintaining personal independence without relying on a car.

Do you need alternatives to driving a car in 2025? The Herts Ability Hubs Mobility Advice Service is here to help!

Not everyone is able to use public transport.

Community transport can be a good option to enable older people, those who are socially isolated, vulnerable or disabled to get out and about either individually or as a group.

These services enable individuals to live independently, participate in their communities and access education, employment and other health services.

The Herts Ability Hubs Mobility Advice Service can offer impartial advice on transport alternatives including community transport and accessible bus, coach, rail and plane travel.

We can also advise clients on accessible venues and locations along with lifestyle choices and inclusive activities.

Led by Hubs Mobility Advice Service Lead Jenny, our new Hubs Mobility Advice Service also provides assessments and training too!

We have Hubs open and ready to help you in Welwyn Garden City and in London - offering support to those challenged by maintaining their independence and mobility, living in Hertfordshire and London.
