What an amazing day! Oscar was a fantastic representative for Cornwall and spoke to Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal during the reception.
It was lovely to have the opportunity to visit the Museum of the Order of St John and soak up the history of our organisation.
Friendships were formed and it was great to see cadets from all over the country gather together.

Tonight our Cadets in Truro had a great last session of the term. They learned about medications as part of their Grand Prior Topic, they had an egg-citing time following cryptic clues in an Easter egg hunt and also practiced manual handling skills. The highlight of the evening was welcoming back Lowenna who has been at university studying to be a paramedic, and it was lovely to hear how she is getting on.

Yesterday we celebrated two of our fabulous cadets achieving their Cadet Leadership 1 award. Well done to Evie and Kayn who were fantastic representatives for the Network ๐ŸŽ‰
They were well supported by Oscar, our Cadet Corporal and County Cadet of the Year, as well as the other local NCOs.
All the young people did so well and it was inspiring to see them work together and support each other throughout the two weekends.
We are looking forward to seeing their future achievements! ๐ŸŒŸ

โœ… Defeating demons
โœ… Winning an Oscar
โœ… Saving lives in the real world?

Did you know you can use the song Golden from Netflix's KPop Demon Hunters to practice your CPR skills?

Songs that have 100-120 beats per minute can be used to practice the rhythm for CPR chest compressions. Classics include Stayin' Alive, Dancing Queen, and even Nelly the Elephant.

No matter which song you choose, if you keep practicing you'll be Golden ๐Ÿฅ‡

This evening, volunteers from St John Ambulance- West Cornwall Network are providing first aid cover at Truro Cathedral for a wonderful evening of music with the Truro Choral Society and Truro Philharmonia.

A big thank you to our volunteer first aiders Chris and Anthony, who are providing first aid cover this evening helping to keep everyone safe while performers and audience members enjoy what promises to be a fantastic night of music in this beautiful venue. ๐ŸŽถ

Please read below for a monthly update from the Mayor of Truro, Cllr Chris Wells:

"It has been another busy and rewarding month, with a range of engagements across the city and county. I was pleased to host the 18th Truro Cubs at the Municipal Buildings, joined by Councillor Bert Biscoe, who spoke to them about the history of the individuals featured in the portraits. It was a pleasure to welcome the group and to see their interest in our local heritage.

I also attended the โ€œOur Life Storiesโ€ exhibition by United Response at Cornwall Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition shared the stories of more than eighty people with learning disabilities and autism, offering a thoughtful and moving insight into lives and experiences from across the country.

During the month, I was honoured to attend the St John Ambulance Service of Dedication and Awards Ceremony at Truro Cathedral. It was inspiring to recognise the commitment and achievements of volunteers from across Cornwall; in particular, Oscar Hunt of the City of Truro Cadets who was awarded Cornwall St John Cadet of the Year 2026.

I was also pleased to meet fellow mayors at the Saltash Civic Service and at the Falmouth Mayorโ€™s Charity Ball.

I will round off the month by celebrating the 20th anniversary of Tanya's Courage Trust alongside our Town Crier, Lionel, bringing to a close a month that has highlighted the strong sense of community across our county."
