Here at The Floating Room we are exited to bring float therapy to Cornwall. This therapy is gaining popularity world wide due to its remarkable benefits. We use a float room (which is larger than a tank and much better for anyone who is worried about claustrophobia) to deliver the ultimate relaxation experience. The science is fairly simple: The tank contains 6-12 inches of sterile of water warmed to body temperature (filtered after every usage). In the water, there are over 800 lbs of medical-grade Epsom salts to ensure that anyone can float. The tank is entirely light-proof (completely dark) and sound-proof. Although some users may which to leave the door open just a little for their first few floats. As you enter the tank and lie down, your body will be suspended in the water. You will feel entirely weightless and free. This experience brings real and immediate effects to both body and mind. It is also particularly beneficial as an aid to sleep…

The answer here at The Floating Room I’m afraid is no.
Whilst it is possible to find tanks big enough to fit 2 people in, no where locally offers this.

BUT WHAT I DO RECOMMEND…

You can book 2 consecutive appointments and I have a warm and comfortable wait room (just refreshed the book selection as per picture 😊.)

Or even better, upgrade to a massage and float - that way one of you can float whilst the other has a massage, then swap… this ALWAYS goes down well.

As we reach the 1k mark I thought this would be a good time share a little more about this small business, past present and future…

🕰 when I first had the idea to bring float therapy to Cornwall, I had, myself been floating for over 10 years. Although it took a few sessions for me to get into it, I had fallen in love and after having the thought “well if I could do this every day I would probably be enlightened by the end of the year” after a float well… I just had to open my own float room (purely to feed my own habit 😂.)

💡 After the initial thought, it took several years of seriously hard work to get it all up and running and a good slice of good luck to find this beautiful spot but 8 years later here I am still going strong.
For those of you who don’t know, this enterprise is pretty much a one woman gig and I am over joyed that despite an epidemic, a broken float tank and a major shift in life circumstances, 8 years later I’m still here doing what I consider the best job in the world.

🚀 I have no idea what the future holds and I’m sure there will be competition. But I truly love and believe in this humble business.
And as I shift, change and grow, I hope I can bring new offerings to what I do… watch this space for an exciting new chapter for me starting soon.

Let’s talk about ANXIETY (yes, it’s a thing most of us, including me) experience…

From severe to mild symptoms: Tight chest, sweaty palms,pounding heart, dread, feelings of loss of control or impending panic, butterflies in the stomach,irritability, restlessness, trembling hands, fear, a sense of foreboding (to name but a few.)

ANXIETY IS AN APPROPRIATE RESPONSE TO A SPECIFIC THREAT.

BUT when it spirals out of control or is no longer associated to a specific threat, it becomes chronic, often irrationally triggered. It is life disputing and often debilitating. It is an epidemic illness right now among much of population.

💦 AND floating can help! (Another post to follow shortly on exactly how it does this but you could just come and find out for yourself 😊.)

Life is for LOVE… and You are top of the list. Let go of the narrative that it’s not ok to spend time and money doing what makes you feel 😊.

On my birthday I enjoyed earth dance with (pictured above.) And the following day I signed myself up for a cranio sacral session THEN had a float THEN had a wonderous massage with THEN enjoyed a 2 hour sauna ritual with (pictured above.) This is how we are meant to live my friends ❤️🙏.

Biofeedback researcher Elmer Green noted: “Every change in the physiological state is accomplished by an appropriate change in the mental-emotional state conscious or unconscious and vice versa.

But this has also been known for years by yogis and shamans; that a state of deep concentrated meditative relaxation leads to us becoming aware of our internal environment from where can watch this bio feedback loop.

The only problem for most of us is how to find this state.

Spring is most definitely on its way…

And whilst my immediate reaction is joy (oh for dreamy summer days,) I’m also aware that I would like to bring some of the quietness, some of the introspective nature of winter with me as I move into this louder joy…. A kind of quiet back drop to the blossoming.

I read this beautiful passage from a play about Joan of Arc last week reminding me of the importance of this quiet, introspective energy:

(Joan of Arc is an advisor to the king who is able to hear divine guidance and when the king asks her why he cannot hear the guidance she says)

They do come to you, but you do not hear them. You have not sat in the field in the evening listening to them. When the angelus (church bells) rings, you cross yourself and have done with it. But if you prayed from your heart and listened to the thrilling of the bells in the air after they stopped raining, you would hear the voices as well as I do.

Can’t get enough of Sandalwood at the moment ❤️

Advice from was to smudge with what your instincts tell you and this is feeling good. Pretty much everyone who has walked in the door since I started using it has commented on the divine smelll (and maybe energy?)

Sandalwood is rooted in many spiritual and cultural traditions (good to know I’m in good company) and it it believed to:

💨 Clense negative energies and put a protective shield around the space.

💨 Deepen relaxation

💨 Reduce anxiety and stress

All good reasons to keep using I think.
