From their very first moments, babies are adapting to a whole new world. The birth process can sometimes place strain on their tiny muscles, ligaments, and joints.

☀️ Top Tips to stay cool in the hot weather 🇬🇧💦

Ah, British weather – we spend 10 months complaining it’s too cold, then the moment we get a taste of summer, we’re melting faster than an ice lolly in a school playground. Since we’re not exactly built for Mediterranean heat, and with temperature’s soaring this week, here’s some top tips on how to keep cool and carry on:

1️⃣ Stay hydrated – Drink water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Add lemon or cucumber, berries or herbs for a refreshing twist. 🍋
2️⃣ Keep blinds and curtains closed – Block out direct sunlight during the hottest hours to reduce indoor temperatures. In the evening, open windows on opposite sides of your home in the evening to let cooler air circulate.
3️⃣ Cool your pulse points – Apply a cold compress or run cool water over your wrists, neck, or behind the knees to lower body temperature. ❄️
4️⃣ Avoid using ovens and hobs – Opt for fresh salads, chilled dishes, and cold snacks to prevent extra heat indoors. 🥗
5️⃣ Use a fan efficiently – Place a bowl of ice in front of a fan for a cooling breeze effect. 🌬️
6️⃣ Wear light, loose breathable fabrics – Choose loose cotton or linen clothing in light colours to reflect the heat and allow airflow. 👕
7️⃣ Plan activities around the heat – Save workouts or running errands for the early morning or late evening when it’s cooler. 🌅
8️⃣ Take cool showers – Lower your body temperature and refresh yourself with short, lukewarm-to-cool showers. 🚿
9️⃣ Switch to lightweight bedding – Use breathable fabrics like cotton or linen to promote airflow and improve sleep quality. 🛏️
🔟 Check on vulnerable people – Make sure elderly relatives, young children, and pets are staying cool and hydrated. ❤️

☀️ And don’t forget — SPF isn’t just for the beach. Apply sunscreen daily to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, even when it’s cloudy. 🧴
