➡️ Plan: we put together a personalised care plan, sharing our recommendations from the assessment.
➡️ Care: we choose a suitable starting date and start carrying out our services.
➡️ Review: we know that circumstances and needs can change, so we make sure you always have access to the care plan, and can revise as you wish.

Did you know Tunbridge Wells is a royal town? 👑

You may have heard it referred to as 'Royal Tunbridge Wells', which started in 1909. King Edward VII recognised the popularity of Tunbridge Wells and its frequent visitors from the aristocracy, including Queen Victoria.

It's one of just three towns with the royal prefix, following Leamington Spa and Wootton Bassett.

It's so nice to know our town has been appreciated over a century! 💚

But the 'Royal' does not apply to all parts of Tunbridge Wells

We've got some extra-special birthdays coming up for March, and we're wishing many happy returns to Chris, Maurice and Rose!

We've got Chris' birthday today, followed by Maurice on the 27th of March. These two residents bring an amazing energy into our home, and we can't wait for their celebrations.

Rose, one of our wonderful care assistants, also has a birthday this month! We're wishing her a very happy birthday for the 25th 🎉 🎈 🎁

You've most likely seen Dionne around Birchwood House, so here's a bit about her!

Since starting in 2020, she has become a wonderful Team Leader, and an invaluable part of our home.

Dionne chose a role in care because of the satisfaction she felt from helping others. She loves how everyday is different, and she said her main motivation comes from knowing our residents are happy.

She loves to dance and sing - when she was a child, her dream job was to be on the West End!

Thanks for all the talent and infectious energy you bring to the team, Dionne 💚

A beautiful March morning at the house last week 🌼

We feel so lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful acerage. It comes alive in different ways each season.

While we're looking forward to the brighter, warmer days of spring, there's still a lot to love above a crisp, peaceful start to the day like this.

The sun is slowly coming out, but that hasn't stopped the rain! 🌧️

And whilst we love a day indoors, 2026 has been record-breakingly rainy. Long stretches of wet weather can keep us inside for longer, causing low mood, reduced motivation, and feelings of isolation.

How do we combat this? 🤔

It's important to start our day with purpose, even if we're staying inside. Maybe this is a creative activity, or gentle exercise.

It may also mean bringing the outside in, with online hobby groups and virtual catchups with loved ones. For us, this means starting a windowsill garden, helping us stay connected to the outside world 🌿

One of our recent favourite recipes has got to be these gluten free chocolate cakes! 😋 🍫

Eaten while hot, the inside of these cakes have a chocolate lava centre, with a brownie-like outside. We served ours with a scoop of ice cream and a drizzle of caramel, but you could also pair it with custard or clotted cream.

The best part? This is a gluten free pudding!

Sometimes, as we get older we can become more sensitive to gluten, as digestive health often changes with age. These cakes are a great way to have a fun treat whilst supporting healthy digestion.

Messages like these are the reason we joined care 💚

There truly is nothing better than knowing that we've made a difference in someone's quality of life. If we can improve how they experience each day – be that with more dignity, comfort, joy, or autonomy – than we relish the opportunity to do so.

It's a special feeling when someone else notices and takes the same to acknowledge our impact and the difference we help make.

We were so grateful to recieve this feedback from a local health professional following a multi-disciplinary meeting last week. Thank you!

Last week, we lost Mary 🕊️

She had been with us for 6 years, and was a well-loved member of the Birchwood family.

We'd like to celebrate the joy, warmth and kindness she brought to our home. We will never forget it.
