Alison Arden Acupuncture

Alison Arden Acupuncture Welcome to my page! I am an Award Winning, licensed Acupuncturist treating clients in both Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells. Hello! Best wishes

Alison

A very warm welcome to my page. Here, I'd like to keep you updated on new developments and information that will benefit you as a client. It may be a new course I've attended, a blog about an aspect of health or sharing some stand out successes. I welcome your feedback and interaction! I gradated with a BSc Honours degree from the renowned International College of Oriental Medicine. I treat clients at Serenity Therapies in Tunbridge Wells and in their own homes. My training enables me to diagnose causes of ill health - not just treat symptoms. Clients typically describe me as friendly and approachable and I think a lot of that comes from my years as a trained nurse. I like to put people at ease, especially if it's a first visit and a client has a worry about needles! I also aim to make your treatment very relaxing - so expect candles, quiet music and space to take time out from your busy life. Whatever your health concerns, why not have a friendly chat with me today - either by phone or email and ask me what you need to know.

Breech Babies! By Alison ArdenMay 26, 2024May 26, 2024blogposts In the last few weeks I’ve treated a couple of ladies whose babies were in a breech position. One lady was 37 weeks pregnant and the other was 33 weeks. It’s funny, ask any acupuncturist and they will tell you, you often get multipl...

Listened to a great podcast today, featuring Dr Megan Rossi (aka The Gut Health Doctor) and she shared something we all can benefit from. When put on a course of antibiotics, many people will grab a bottle of probiotics when they finish as they know their gut bacteria will be affected. Dr Rossi explained that this won't help. What should we do? We should take a specific probiotic at the same time as the antibiotic and carry it on for one week after finishing. You can take either LACTOBACILLUS RHOMNARUS or SACCHAROMYCES BOULARDII, 5 billion units of either.

Trying to get pregnant? Top 5 tips for the 2 week wait...

1. If you've just undergone embryo transfer, give yourself some time off work, a week is ideal. Talk to your employer. If it's impossible to take time off completely, consider reduced hours, more working from home etc.

2. Gentle exercise is helpful as it increases blood circulation to the pelvic area. Yoga and walking in nature are great things to do.

3. To help you stay peaceful and in a positive frame of mind, a daily meditation and visualising practice is hugely recommended. An app called "Insight Timer" has a multitude of guided meditations including ones on fertility and IVF. For best results, spend 10 or 15 minutes first thing in the morning on these practices. Gratitude meditations will give you a great dose of positivity to start the day well.

4. Avoid sugary drinks and foods as they increase inflammation which has been shown to affect implantation. Add foods that are anti-inflammatory. There is no need to get too hung up on foods if you stick to a good wholefood diet and avoid processed items.

5. Keep your uterus warm. In Chinese Medicine, there is a connection with the feet and the uterus. If you get cold feet, wear cosy warm socks. Drink warm drinks and room temperature water. Avoid lots of cold foods unless it's in the middle of summer and hot outside.

Delighted to receive this lovely review today on Yell. This is why acupuncturists love their work!

"I first visited Alison while recovering from a viral infection that left me feeling very fatigued. From my first visit, I noticed an improvement in my energy levels. Alison explained that the benefits of acupuncture are cumulative and to have regular weekly sessions to maintain this improvement. After going on a weekly basis for about a month, this was reduced to twice-monthly and now monthly to keep everything balanced. At each stage, Alison helped me monitor my energy and general health, advising me when to hold back from exercising, for example, to avoid setting myself back. Her advice was spot on! I am now feeling much better and plan to see Alison monthly to maintain what has been achieved. From the first consultation, Alison took the time to explain the process and then worked methodically to address various issues. In addition to her excellent skills as an acupuncturist, Alison is also friendly and caring and each visit is so calming. She is an absolute gem – thank you so much!"
