When we talk to someone, we aren’t just using words.

There is emotion behind everything we say, however big or small (that’s why words can feel empty sometimes), plus we use body language to convey how we feel, (why you can hear someone telling you one thing but know they mean something else, or you can tell when you're being lied to).

Just as we communicate to other beings in many ways, you can do the same for your body (your nervous system).

Here are some ways to communicate with your nervous system:
* Controlled breath
* Gentle and specific movement
* Speak to it!

First step, try speaking kindly to yourself and let me know how you get on.

When we pair the slow, deep and extending breathwork with gentle movement, we are essentially saying to the body ‘look, we are moving and it is safe’.

It might feel uncomfortable to move at first but that is not necessarily the movement itself causing pain but the tension - it’s actually your body sending out pain signals to stop movement. When we slowly start to bring movement back this tension and perceived pain starts to go.

Remember breath itself is movement, every cell in your body moves when you breathe and this is the first step to start moving freely again.

Let me know how you get on ... and remember, breath itself is movement!

Our bodies will keep 'talking' to us through our 'felt language' which includes pain, until we hear why.

There is always a reason. In this case, my client needed to hear that listening isn't enough, her body was telling her that it was time for a change. She knew exactly what this was about and she was brave enough to make this change and hasn't had any pain since.

What is your body telling you??

My previous post was about the importance of self compassion, and the interesting coaching session I had with one of my clients.

To recap … my client approached me wanting help freeing the suppressed, playful side of his personality.

After our coaching session, he realised that it was the ‘you’re not enough, try harder’ self talk that suppressed his playful side, his belief changed from: ‘In order to be successful I must force myself to work hard and I can’t have fun or be myself, fully.’

to..

‘I trust myself to achieve my dreams and not let life pass me by. When I lean into this trust, my playful side comes out - which encourages me to be fully present and achieve in balance and comfortability.’

He then hi-fived me and bounced out of the room!

Be kind to yourselves people! it makes a difference – have you tried this and seen a difference in the way you experience your body or life? I’d love to hear your story ☺️

My previous post was about the importance of self compassion, and the interesting coaching session I had with one of my clients …. I promised to let you know how it went.

There is science behind self-compassion ... studies now show it has positive effects such as:
* Reduced stress (remember less stress = less pain)
* Lowered blood pressure
* Improved immunity
* Lowered heart rate
* Reduced inflammation

I had a really interesting coaching session with one of my clients today. He’s very successful in his own right - one of those inspiring stories of growth and stability, yet he started with very little.

Even though he has proven to himself that he can make anything happen, time and time again, he still engages with negative self-talk and forces himself to achieve. During our session he realised that there have been times when he has been so tired that he wasn’t able to keep up with this highly disciplined approach and these were the periods in his career that he achieved more, faster and his playful side was present. His home life was also really fulfilling, even though he was tired.

This is why he first approached me for coaching - he wanted help freeing the suppressed, playful side of his personality.

I’ll let you know how it went tomorrow… stay tuned 🤗

The incredibly comprehensive nervous system can be simplified by using a technique of talking to the body as if it is someone else who doesn’t feel safe.

If you can find compassion in this way, you will instantly lower the stress response circling around your body and lower any pain or discomfort you might be experiencing.

I love how powerful coaching is. You can use your coaching sessions to learn how to practise this technique and how your version of talking to your body and lowering pain sounds and looks like.

**Pain is not always a structural issue!**

I had a beautiful coaching session with a client today and she managed to completely remove the pain in her shoulder by talking kindly to her body. We were just sitting and talking on zoom - no movement involved or required in this case.

I love how powerful coaching is!

You have the answer to everything you need already inside of you, it’s just my job to help you uncover what you need 🤩

I love how powerful coaching is. In a coaching session we uncover the hidden keys to unlock the health and happiness you truly desire in your life. What’s amazing is that it just takes one insight to create this freedom. That’s why having a coach can be so powerful. Your first session is always FREE.

Plato was quoted saying that “lack of activity destroys the good condition of every human being, while movement and methodical exercise saves and preserves it.”

So, rest only in the acute stages of a back pain, up to two days max, and this is only advised in some cases.

To preserve flexibility, strength, and power in the body, we must move, even if that's just gentle rocking and shaking.

I’ll leave you with two questions.
1. When has movement helped your back pain?
2. How is avoidance of movement serving you in your life?
