Today at The Hollies , the spotlight is on the lovely Edna , our “Resident of the Day”.
While some might look for grand celebrations, Edna finds her Joy in the simple things . Her perfect day doesn’t involve fuss or fanfare - just a COMFORTABLE CHAIR , A GENTLE HAND MASSAGE and a GOOD OLD FASHIONED CHAT .
Edna has a wonderful way of making time slow down. As she relaxes she shares stories and reflection that remind us all of the importance of connection . It’s quite , beautiful reminder that sometimes the best gift you can give to someone is simply YOUR TIME and a LISTENING EAR.

It sounds like Betty had a wonderful day as “Resident of the Day” at The Hollies!
Being a”resident of the day” is special initiative in many care homes , designed to make a resident feel celebrated and empowered . It is all about putting them at the attention and honouring their choices and personality .
For Betty, a pampering session involving a gentle hand massage and nail painting to a relaxing hair wash and styling ,it is about much more than just beauty . It is a therapeutic sensory experience .
Betty truly embraced the “spa” experience. The transformation was more than physical as she emerged, she looked absolutely radiant and empowered.
It’s lovely to see Betty is enjoying her time , such moments of connection and personal care are what makes The Hollies feel like true community filled with warmth and tender care.
The greatest highlight wasn’t the polish or the hair-it was the joy written all over her face!
Betty’s smile lit up the room , reminding us all how little extra care and attention can make the SPIRIT SOAR!

At The Hollies being “Resident of the Day” is all about having things exactly your way - and for Margaret , that means the ultimate luxury of peace and quiet .

While the rest of the home hums with activity , Margaret has opted for a private retreat in her own room . She’s settled in comfortably with steaming cup of tea and a slice of cake, completely lost in the magic of her favourite film. It’s a wonderful reminder that sometimes the best way to celebrate is simply to slow down , relax and enjoy the things you love most .

Today at The Hollies Rest Home, we were delighted to celebrate David as our special resident of the Day.

It had been a wonderful day dedicated entirely to his relaxation and well being. The team made sure David felt truly spoiled, starting the morning with some gentle hand massages and nail pampering to help him unwind . Afterwards, tapped into his creative side with some arts and crafts, showing us all his artistic flair ready for the Easter .

The highlight of the afternoon was spending time in the garden. Bathed in the warm sunshine and listening to the peaceful sound of chirping birds, David looked completely at peace. It was lovely to see him so content, relaxed, and wearing a bright smile throughout the day.

Enjoying the sunshine with some tunes and games 🎵🎵⚽️
It was a beautiful day at The Hollies Rest Home as our residents soaked up every bit of the glorious sunshine !
The garden was buzzing with energy and joy as we brought out the games for some friendly competition. From the gentle toss of a beanbag to the spirited round of lawn bowls , the air was filled with cheers and playful banter.

There’s nothing quite like seeing those bright smiles and hearing the sound of laughter echoing across the lawn. Whether it was hitting a winning shot or simply enjoying a tea in the fresh air, sense of community and fun made it a day to remember .

Dragonfly creations at The Hollies Rest Home

Today at the Hollies our residents have been enjoying a wonderfully creative arts and crafts session- designing and decorating their very own dragonflies. Using bright colours , shimmering materials and plenty of imagination, each resident crafted a dragonfly that reflects their personality, memories and unique sense of style.
These sessions are more than just craft making - they offer companionship , joy , stimulation and a chance for the residents to express themselves in fun and relaxing way. Everyone worked together on their colourful creation.
A DELIGHTFUL DAY OF CREATIVITY

Seeing the residents come together to create dragonflies- each one full of colour, character and meaning- was truly special. This little work of art will be displayed around the home , bringing brightness to our shared spaces and reminding us all of the strength,joy and transformation symbolised by the dragonfly.

The air at the Hollies was filled with the delicious aroma of frying batter last Tuesday as we celebrate Pancake Day in style. It was an afternoon full of laughter , sweet treats and a bit of healthy debate over the best way to top a pancake .
It is not about the food, it’s about the fun and the atmosphere seeing everyone so excited and enjoying a treat together is what makes days like this so special.

A huge thank you to our kitchen team led by Claire and staff team for keeping pancakes coming and to our residents for making the day so much fun . We are already looking forward to next year !

Our arts and crafts of handmade Chinese paper lantern and other cut outs to add a personal touch to the home’s festive atmosphere to welcome Chinese New Year - the year of the Fire Horse!

The highlight of the day is our themed lunch carefully prepared by our kitchen team to be both authentic and accessible for all the residents and families who joined us.

Symbolic Starters: We serve spring rolls for wealth and prawn crackers for a bit of crunch .

Main delights : Residents and families enjoy classics fried chicken, Chinese curry , stir fried beef and egg fried rice, prawns and bao.

Longevity Noodles: Long uncut noodles are staple symbolising a wish for a long and healthy life for every resident .

These celebrations are more than just an event , they are a vital part of our life enrichment programme, helping to foster inclusivity , trigger happy memories and ensure that every day at The Hollies feels different and exciting.
