There’s something about the bond between animals and their carers that goes far deeper than words can explain.
Pets were not much part of my childhood and I always swore when I could I’d be sure to make up for the lack of a furry companion. Several cats and these two later, we - and now I - have been blessed with the trust, dependency, love, affection, loyalty and sheer joy of paws, tummies and tails.
The one on the left joined me five years ago this weekend. The one on the right became part of our family 27 years ago and stayed for twelve seeing my sons through childhood and beyond. Never forgotten, I’m pretty certain Scamper went to his grave knowing more about some of the boys’ inner worlds than I’ll ever know.
It took a while before I was ready for the minx that is Truffle but now I can’t imagine life without her. And the same goes, so it seems, for many of my clients. Her work diary is pretty full but there’s always time and space for anyone in need of her unconditional love and attention.
