This week is Men's Health Week.

This year's campaign is bringing awareness of mental health and "connection" and is calling the Government to introduce a men's health strategy.

Why may we need a specific strategy?

-One man in five dies before the age of 65 (Men’s Health Forum).
-Four in five su***des are by men, with su***de the biggest cause of death for men under 35 (UK Parliament).
-According to the BUPA Wellbeing Index: '43% of working British men are urging their employers to provide greater mental health support.
-50% of men have struggled with mental health difficulties at some point, yet fewer than half have sought medical advice.
-37% of UK men admit actively hiding their mental health issues from their partners.
-30% of men surveyed said they didn’t know where to turn for advice or support.
-65% of employees recognise that stigma around men’s mental health remains strong.

🤒🦠It's that time again, chickenpox is doing the rounds! 🦠🤒

Chickenpox is common and mostly affects children, but you can get it at any age. It usually gets better by itself after 1 to 2 weeks without needing to see a GP.

☀️ It may seem overcast, but the UV index shows that the Aberdeenshire area is set to have moderate to high levels this coming week.

When UV levels reach 3 or above(moderate or higher), sunscreen and sun hats are required and shade encouraged. When UV levels reach 5 or above, limit time outdoors and/or provide shade and remember that UV can pe*****te cloud cover.

Remember to apply sunscreen and take extra precautions when spending time outdoors this week. It is so important to protect your skin to prevent any long-term damage 😎
