💆‍♀️ “Face It, You Need to Drain!”

A Step-by-Step Guide to Lymphatic Facial Massage
(For Puffiness, Glow, and That Post-Facial Feel)

Get ready to de-puff, detox, and glow like never before — using just your fingertips and your fabulous face. ✨

🌿 Before You Begin:
• Wash your hands 🧼
• Cleanse your face 🧖‍♀️
• Apply a light facial oil or serum for glide (jojoba or rosehip = chef’s kiss) 💧
• Sit somewhere peaceful — your lymph loves calm.

💆‍♀️ STEP 1: “Unlock the Drain”

Start at your collarbone. Use light pressure and circle or sweep inward toward the midline (where your big drainage ducts are).
🌀 Do this 5–10x on each side.

🧠 Why?
Because your lymph drains down your neck and into your collarbone — we need to open the exit before we clear the path.

🧖‍♀️ STEP 2: “Neck Slides for the Win”

Place your fingers under your ears and gently glide down your neck toward your collarbone.
Repeat 5–10x per side.

🧠 This clears the jugular chain and deep cervical nodes — major drainage highways.

✋ STEP 3: “Jawline Drainage = Bye Bye Bloat”

Start at the chin and use gentle sweeping motions along your jawline toward your ears.
Then sweep down the sides of your neck to your collarbones.

🧠 Helps reduce jaw tension, puffiness, and sinus pressure.

👃 STEP 4: “Sinus Slide & Sculpt”

Using your ring fingers:
• Sweep from the sides of your nose to your temples
• Then slide down past your ears and down your neck

Repeat 5–10x.
(Also great for post-allergy puff!)

👁 STEP 5: “Under-Eye Angels”

With feather-light touch, sweep from the inner corner of the eye outward along your orbital bone.
Then down the sides of your face and neck.

🧠 Reduces under-eye bags and fluid retention. Always be super gentle here!

👑 STEP 6: “Forehead Flow & Temple Drain”

Sweep from the center of your forehead out to your temples, then down the side of your face and neck to your collarbone.

🧠 Relieves tension, lifts brows, and finishes the flow.

✨ BONUS: “Finish with a Breath”

Take 3 deep, slow belly breaths.
In through the nose…
Out through the mouth…

Your lymph loves the diaphragm movement — it tells your body: “It’s safe to drain.”

🌈 How Often?

2–3x a week for regular glow maintenance.
Every day if you’re puffy, tired, or feeling sluggish.

🎉 Benefits You Might Feel:
• Less facial swelling
• Brighter eyes
• More defined cheekbones
• Reduced sinus pressure
• Calmer nervous system
• A surprising amount of joy 😌

💚 Love Your Lymph: Step 1 — Hydration is Your First Manual Drainage Tool

Before oils, dry brushes, or supplements — your first act of lymphatic care begins with water.

Your lymphatic system is a fluid highway. It carries immune cells, removes waste, and keeps your tissues balanced. But here’s the catch: it’s not powered by a pump like your heart. It needs your help — and hydration is its fuel.

💧 Why Water Matters for Your Lymph:
• Your lymph is 96% water — and when you’re dehydrated, it becomes thick and sluggish.
• Dehydrated lymph = slow detox = puffiness, fatigue, and inflammation.
• Hydration helps lymph move through your nodes and vessels more easily, especially when combined with movement.

🛠️ Step 1 Actions:
1. Start your day with 1 glass of warm lemon water
This wakes up your digestive system and gently stimulates the lymph-liver-gut axis.
2. Aim for half your body weight in ounces of water per day
Example: If you weigh 60kg (~132 lbs), aim for 2 liters or more depending on heat and activity.
3. Add a pinch of mineral-rich salt (like Himalayan salt)
It helps your cells absorb water more effectively and supports electrolyte balance.
4. Sip throughout the day — don’t chug
Steady intake = steady lymph movement.
5. Bonus: Infuse your water with cucumber, mint, ginger, or berries for added anti-inflammatory benefits.

🚰 Gentle Reminder:

Feeling thirsty means you’re already behind. Make water a love letter to your lymph — sip by sip.

🔔 Next in the Series:
Step 2 — Wake Up Your Lymph with Gentle Movement (Even in Bed!)

Stay tuned as we build a lifestyle that makes your body flow again — gently, intentionally, and beautifully 💚

🌟 Manual Lymphatic Drainage Massage!(MLD)🌟

❇️ What is a lymphatic drainage massage?

An MLD massage is an extremely gentle, relaxing superficial skin massage. This stimulates the lymph nodes which are located just below the skin surface. (I really felt my body and mind slowing down when I had this done. It was fab!!)

❇️ What are the benefits?

➡️ Stimulation of the immune system to help ward off illness.
➡️ Drains excess fluid from tissues (oedema).
➡️ Removes harmful toxins

❇️ Can also help alleviate many chronic conditions, including:
➡️ Sinusitis
➡️ IBS/Constipation
➡️ Arthritic pain & inflammation
➡️ Puffy eyes/swollen legs & ankles
➡️ Calms the central nervous system to aid stress reduction

If you’d like further information, or are keen to give it a go, get in touch! I’d love to help!

🌟 Lymphatic system = Uber important system!! 🌟

🌟 Lymphatic system = Uber important system!! 🌟

🧠💧 10 Educational Facts About the Lymphatic System

1. It’s Your Body’s Drainage System 🧽The lymphatic system collects excess fluid, waste, and toxins from tissues and returns them to the bloodstream — preventing swelling and supporting detoxification.

2. No Pump? No Problem! 🏃‍♀️Unlike the heart in the circulatory system, the lymphatic system has no pump. It relies on movement, deep breathing, and muscle contractions to flow.

3. Home to Your Immune Army 🛡️Lymph nodes filter lymph fluid and are filled with immune cells like lymphocytes and macrophages that detect and destroy viruses, bacteria, and abnormal cells.

4. Your Gut is Lymph-Rich! 🌿About 70% of your immune system resides in your gut — specifically in the GALT (gut-associated lymphoid tissue). This makes the gut-lymph connection essential for immunity.

5. Lymph Moves One Way Only ➡️Lymph travels in one direction — toward the heart. It drains into the thoracic duct or right lymphatic duct, which empty into large veins near the collarbones.

6. Fascia and Lymph Work Together 🕸️Lymphatic vessels are embedded in the fascia (connective tissue web). When fascia is restricted or inflamed, lymph can’t flow freely — causing stagnation.

7. The Spleen is a Lymphatic Organ ❤️Your spleen filters blood, recycles old red blood cells, and helps fight infection. It’s like a giant lymph node — but for your blood!

8. Skin is a Major Player 🧴The superficial lymphatic capillaries are located just under the skin. That’s why therapies like dry brushing and manual lymph drainage work so well!

9. Lymphatic Swelling = A Sign, Not a Diagnosis 🚨Swollen lymph nodes often mean your immune system is working hard. Chronic or painful swelling, however, may indicate infection, autoimmune activity, or lymphatic congestion.

10. It Helps You Absorb Fat 🥑Specialized lymph vessels in your small intestine, called lacteals, absorb dietary fats and transport them as chyle — a milky white lymph rich in lipids.

❇️ Two things we start with during appointments before commencing any treatments:

➡️ Diaphragmatic breathing
➡️ Big 6 lymphatic sequence to get our lymph flowing!

❇️ For anyone who has forgotten the sequence or maybe not doing it as often as you should, here is the very knowledgeable Dr Perry Nickelston to remind you! 😁

👉🏻 And if you haven’t done it before? Get started!
It only takes 3 minutes, so you can do it while the kettle is boiling! 😉👌🏻

I’ve also popped the link in comments from Dr Perry about why it’s so important.

Enjoy!

🌟 Had the absolute pleasure of treating not just my client, but all three of her children as well this week, who were all keen for a bit of an MOT! 🌟

➡️ Each treatment consisted of diaphragmatic breathing, Kinetic Chain Release, and some Connective Tissue Release mobilisations were included as well to further improve ROM.

❇️ Leg length discrepancies ranged from 1cm to 3mm, all of which were corrected after one session!

❇️ All four left feeling relaxed and happy! 💜

🌿 Good Morning Lymphies! 👋
It’s Friday and we are so excited to officially kick off our brand-new series…

📌 LYMPH CLASS — your daily classroom-style post where we teach from lymphatic basics to deep-dive science 🤓

Our heart? To equip YOU with powerful, science-backed knowledge you can store in what we call your Lymphatic Toolbox 🧰👏
Because when you understand your lymph, you start to understand your healing.

So grab your 🗒️ and 🖊️ — let’s dive into today’s lesson!

🌱 Lymph Basics 101: A Gentle Introduction

1️⃣ What is the lymphatic system?
It’s a one-way drainage network made up of:
• Lymphatic vessels (like small, clear highways)
• Lymph nodes (your immune filtering stations)
• Organs like the spleen, thymus, and tonsils
• Lymph fluid (carries waste, proteins, immune cells, and fats)

💧 Its 3 main jobs?
Drain. Defend. Detoxify.

2️⃣ What does lymph do?
• Removes cellular waste, toxins, and excess fluid
• Transports immune cells to fight infection
• Carries fats from the digestive tract to the bloodstream
• Supports healing, reduces inflammation, and keeps tissue clean

3️⃣ Why is lymph flow important?
Unlike blood, lymph has no pump. It relies on:
• Movement (walking, rebounding, stretching)
• Deep breathing (especially diaphragmatic/belly breathing)
• Manual therapies (like MLD & dry brushing)

When flow slows down, you may feel:
→ Puffy, foggy, tired, inflamed, or heavy

4️⃣ Signs your lymph may need support:
• Swelling in limbs or face
• Puffy eyes or heaviness
• Frequent colds or slow healing
• Brain fog, fatigue, or poor sleep
• Stubborn weight or skin breakouts
• Heat intolerance or fluid retention

🧠 Class dismissed for now… but we’ll see you tomorrow for Lymph Class #2!

Save this post, share it with a friend, and start building your healing foundation one class at a time 🌍💛
