Different types of blood tests can be carried out to help identify people with a possible vitamin B12 or folate deficiency.

These tests check:

- whether you have a lower level of haemoglobin (a substance that transports oxygen) than normal.

-whether your red blood cells are larger than normal.

Vitamin B blood testing is used to find out if your body is not getting enough of one or more B vitamins (vitamin B deficiency).

A Vitamin B12 and folate test is often used to check for certain types of anemia.

What is Phlebotomy?
Phlebotomy is a procedure that removes blood from the body.

A qualified phlebotomist performs phlebotomy in our medical clinic. The process is similar to donating blood.

The phlebotomist inserts a needle into a vein in your arm and removes about 500 mL (17 fl oz) of blood. The procedure takes about 20 minutes.
