Young people aged 8 to 17 are asked to create a hashtag that raises awareness, inspires action, and speaks to young people about staying safe in the community.

➡️ Rewards for the winning hashtag:

The hashtag featured across our campaigns
A shoutout on our social channels
£20 Amazon voucher

➡️ How to enter:

Direct message us on any of our social channels, email us on local.offer@achievingforchildren.org.uk or complete a quick entry form (link in the comments).

➡️ Deadline and other details

22 August
Entrants must be aged between 8 to 17 and live in RBWM.
In September, we will ask young people to vote for their favourite out the top five hashtags that have been shortlisted. The hashtag with the most votes will be our winner.

Over the summer holidays, we will be providing tips, advice and useful links to help parents and carers educate and support their pre-teens and teens to keep safe when out and about.

Each week will focus on different areas which will include: starting the conversation, street smarts and independence, empowering to report, when to step in and knowing the law.

💬 Meet Jana, a foster carer with Achieving for Children who specialises in supporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.
Her journey shows how compassion, patience, and commitment can change lives.

Could you open your heart and home to a child in need? 💛

Unaccompanied asylum-seeking children arrive with a wide range of life experiences - many shaped by fear, loss, and uncertainty. These young people, aged 10 to 17, come from the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe. They've had to leave behind everything familiar, sometimes even their families, in search of safety.

They carry the trauma of conflict, displacement, and separation. What they need now is a chance to rebuild in a safe, stable, and supportive environment.

We’re seeking nurturing foster carers and supported lodgings providers who can offer these children the care, guidance, and encouragement they deserve - to access education, integrate into the community, and begin their journey of healing.

If you believe you could make a difference in a young person's life, please get in touch.

Last year, over 4,000 children arrived in the UK alone, seeking safety.

Most were just 16 or 17, carrying the weight of fear, loss, and long journeys behind them.

▪Some waited years for a decision.
▪Some were mistakenly treated as adults.
▪Some disappeared altogether.

But with a foster carer, everything can change.

🌟 A spare room becomes a safe space.
🌟 A kind voice becomes trust.
🌟 A home becomes hope.

Could you help a young person feel safe again?

*Are you interested in being able to improve your workforce and change the lives of care leavers for the better?*

RBWM and Achieving for Children Virtual School are staging a free training and networking event, on the 28th November (10-2pm) at Ascot Racecourse to raise awareness of best practice when recruiting young people from foster care backgrounds and to enable you to fill vacant roles.

When a young person enters the care system, it is often as a result of abuse and neglect. They therefore require us to provide them with the nurture, support and opportunities that we offer our own children.

With the help of the Care Leavers Covenant, John Lewis and our Educational Psychologists we will highlight not only how you can help, but how we will provide you with ongoing advice.

During this event, you will have the opportunity to speak with young people and your expertise would be invaluable. You may even leave having filled a vacancy!

We have selected you to attend as you play a key role in our local community and therefore can play a part making it an even better place to work.

We encourage you to RSVP no later than 30th September
