I’m always looking for ways to make my yoga classes better. This lovely little aromatherapy inhaler from .and.green has been a favourite for a long time now, and this latest room spray from smells divine.

I work with themes and unique playlists every week because ever since I started teaching I wanted my classes to feel like a 60 minute journey into yoga. I link themes into different states of being, different moods, physical focuses, the seasons and the world around us (the moon has a regular input🌙). I like to go beyond asana to include pranayama and mudras as well as yoga philosophy. Candlelit savasanas and fragrances are there to engage the senses and give the everyone time to just ‘be’.

Whilst I love doing this, I’m also aware that really, yoga is what goes on inside of each of us. Even in classes we each have our own personal yoga practice going on. And it’s such an honour to share it collectively ❤️🧘🏼‍♀️each person brings their own unique energy into the room and it’s such a lovely thing to witness.

Quick tip, if the week has left you tired, try ‘legs up the wall pose’, also called Viparita Karani. Start with a short hold up to 5 mins; I start with 1 or 2 if it’s a new pose. Simply lie on the floor and raise your legs up against the wall. It’s great if you’ve been sitting or standing a long time as it reverses blood flow away from the lower body. You can use blankets and cushions as props to get comfortable (eg under the lower back or the head). Avoid if you have glaucoma or high blood pressure or any injuries that may cause difficulty.

One of my dreams is to run retreats and Ibiza is a place that stole my heart; it just feels magical ☀️🌊one day!

I’ve started my steps towards this with half day retreats linking in with the seasons, starting with the winter solstice back in December last year, followed by the spring equinox and then next is a summer solstice celebration on 22nd June. I’d love you to join me!

Not just yoga asana; though this will form a big part of the afternoon🧘🏼‍♀️There will be breath work, guided relaxation, tea and reflection time, personalised mini reiki sessions (can be tailored for anything specific ) and a mini vegan summer feast to end☀️🍓

2.45-6pm, Teddington.

This week I had the pleasure of running my second 90 minute yoga workshop at - a brilliant service offering support to help the local community improve mental health and well-being. Run by lovely, welcoming people it was great to see people return for part two🧘🏼‍♀️

This week it’s Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme is movement so our get together tied in nicely.

I love teaching yoga and I love teaching people who want to learn so given that we only had two sessions together I tried to give tips people could take home with them, from simple daily movements to breath work that they can easily fit into their day.
