I did it my way!
After my 2024 run I never felt the need to run London again. The overwhelm was real and made for a pretty miserable experience.
Then I entered the ballot for this year. And by some miracle got in! But this time no expectation on time - my primary objective was to get to the end without having a panic attack. That was it. So I spent the entire run based on not letting my HR too high and keep nervous system as under control as I could.
The combination of and was a winner. The crowd screaming was there but it was muffled. Add to that visor and sunglasses too - winner. Like a horse with blinkers 🐴😆
First half all good. Some metronomic splits. But my nemesis of Tower Bridge overwhelm (as amazing as it is) was hard! Made it across but it spiked my HR so high. But 🔋 I just adjusted for the second half to keep it under control and maintained steady breathing. No pressure on time. Just one foot in front of the other getting to the end.
Loved seeing friends on way around. Amazing ice pack from too because it was hot out there!
Might’ve stopped a bit too long to chat as legs took a while to get going again 🤭
Crossed the line and thrilled to find the sensory calm tent. Well done ! Perfect for those of us that getting to end is more than just a struggle with the legs 😌
