Online, there are lots of videos of Deaf people or interpreters signing. On those videos, there are even more comments about the fact they're pulling faces the whole time. Why is that??

We at BSL Plus will be showing some examples this week to hopefully help you understand why!

Who's ready for Halloween? As we are well and truly in spooky season, we thought it was time to show off our spooky logo!

Most people recognise the white cane. But what about this cane that our Service User is holding here?
What's with the red stripes? Are they a fashion statement?

No (although we do think they look fabulous!). In the UK, if you see someone using a white cane with red stripes like this, it means they are DeafBlind.

Deafness and Blindness are both spectrums so there's no way of knowing how much hearing or vision the individual has, but if you spot the red stripes then you know they may not see/hear you coming.

Keeping this in mind can help make the world more accessible, and safer for everyone!

No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights

Today is International Day of Sign Language. It's important to remember that without Sign Language, a lot of Deaf people all over the world would be unable to access a lot of things in life!
