I wanted to share a personal update with you all. As many of you know, my family and I are embarking on a new chapter as I take a pause from my Veterinary Chiropractic career to focus on homeschooling my children and moving out of the area in march 2025.

However, this isn’t a goodbye! I’ll be returning to the area monthly to run condensed focused treatment days for clients who wish to continue, ensuring I can still provide care for your wonderful horses and dogs on a more structured schedule.

To stay in touch, receive updates on these area-focused days, and book appointments, I invite you to follow my personal pages on Facebook or Instagram (.l.calleran). I’d love for you to join me there, not just for updates, but to share this new journey together.

Thank you for your incredible support and understanding. I’m so grateful for the trust you’ve placed in me, and I can’t wait to see many of you (and your amazing horses and dogs!) again soon.

Warm regards,
Amber

Treating horses is a privilege. Pica sadly lost her friend earlier this year and emotionally has been struggling. Today we helped her relax and release tension she's been holding on to. She was so grateful. Emotional wellness is just as important for our animals as their physical health.

The handsome Ricco glowing after his treatment yesterday. Ricco is a long standing client who was unfortunately building some tension over his lumbars at his last treatment. We booked in a follow up three weeks later to do some further work before anything nasty escalates. I am so happy we nipped it in the bud because Ricco felt amazing but it also gave me a great insight into how he feels post treatment and how well he maintains his adjustments.

Personally not a fan of ball games as it often leads to over exheursion, fixation and possessive behaviours but if they're your thing remember to keep it short and sweet ⚽🏀🏐

As your dog retrieves the first...second...third...maybe fifth or sixth ball, his muscles start to tire and soon they reach overload, where they no longer can fully control and support your dog's movements. Now, when your dog does those amazing athletic maneuvers to snag the ball, soft tissues like the cranial cruciate ligament, iliopsoas muscle and tendon, and the muscles and ligaments that support the vertebrae are overstretching. Minor tears are occurring. Now the ball is thrown 10, 12 times or more and ultimately your dog lies down, exhausted.

That period between when your dog's muscles are in overload, and when your dog lies down exhausted, is the injury zone (Figure 1). But remember, with all that adrenaline, your dog doesn't feel the injuries happening, so you have no idea that the tissues are being used beyond their capacity.

When this game is repeated day after day, month after month, the small tissue tears become large ones, and suddenly it becomes evident that your dog is in pain and has an injury. Of course, it hasn't been sudden at all-what seemed sudden is just the final result of repeated stress and strain until the tissues gave way.

As some of you may be aware there have been numerous videos circulating on social media showing strong, unnecessary and even dangerous adjustments being performed on animals. Veterinary opinion of these has been as horrified as we (members of the McTimoney Animal Association) are, and thankfully today it's been seen that a letter from the MAA and MCC has been published in this months edition of the Vet Times.

The letter is pictured below and the emphasis is on clarification of how gentle the McTimoney approach is and the level of training that we undergo to enable us to deliver our treatment.

Please can everyone share this so the message spreads far and wide that myself and my colleagues have no affinity with these dangerous practices. It's really sad, as much of the scepticism and concern about chiropractic treatment comes from people thinking that this is the way we treat!!! Everyone needs to know that this is so far from the truth!!!!
