If you have fertility treatment, it can feel very strange and lonely when you are discharged from the clinic which helped you become pregnant. I offer midwifery care and support from the very earliest days of pregnancy - walking with you - whatever that journey brings. I understand the challenge of balancing optimism with realism when your path to parenting has been tough. I understand the complex emotions. I am here for you.

Sometimes pregnancy is hard. Sometimes it is frightening. Sometimes serious and life changing decisions have to be faced. As a private midwife with a special interest in complex pregnancy I am able to spend time with my clients and to spend lots of time thinking about them and considering how I can help them most effectively. Continuity of care can make a huge impact in coping with challenges. In cases of need I will always seek to offer reduced cost options so that people who would really benefit can access it. Please reach out if this is you - or share the info with those around you

Trauma from pregnancy or birth makes many people avoid another pregnancy. I offer trauma informed care - to debrief, understand and process the experience and then to walk with you through a future pregnancy, birth and early days. It is an absolute privilege and joy to watch the transformation in a woman and her family. This is true midwifery.

What should we feed children? What is “healthy”?

🗞️Fabulous (if depressing) feature on baby snacks, pouches and so-called growing up milks by in Saturday's

📗📘📙Draws on 🍐 reports on baby foods, ultra-proceesed foods & growing up/toddler milks and drinks (links in bio)

‘Manufacturers have done a spectacular job of convincing many parents that feeding a baby with highly processed pouches, powders and crisp-like snacks is not just the convenient option but the healthier and better one. Does your baby refuse greens? A pouch will provide all the veg they require. Worried about your child choking? Give them a “melty” snack’

❓🤑The million dollar question: ‘How bad do things have to get in the baby food aisle before the government finally decides to protect infants – and parents – from this flood of oversweetened and highly processed food and drinks?’

Because “midwife “ is a protected title I am bound by the same registration requirements as all NHS midwives. Many people (including some NHS colleagues) don’t realise this. When you choose a private midwife you get a fully qualified, up to date, insured professional who has time and energy for you and your individual situation. In the 5+ years that I have worked outside the NHS I have learned so much that I never had time to even think about before! Working as part of the Private Midwives family gives me personal and professional support, excellent professional updating opportunities and clinical governance oversight of my work. This is part of a very moving review from a client whose birth suddenly became very complicated. She writes that “knowing that Angie would keep me and my baby safe, she helped me through what suddenly turned into a very difficult and dangerous birth”. When I identified that things had suddenly changed from the very normal birth we were expecting, she trusted me implicitly. That trust was crucial in achieving a safe birth of her beautiful baby.

The birth of your baby is the start of your new life. It can be wonderful, exhilarating, terrifying and exhausting all at once! Having a midwife you know visiting you at home in the early days can make an enormous difference to how you feel. As well as providing the physical checks, weighing baby, the bloodspot test, supporting with feeding and so on, a private midwife has time to listen to your concerns, to explain things and to help you work out how your family life will be. We support your preferences and help you to parent in the way that is best for you. Rest is vital, so stay at home. Get expert advice and information as well as practical support from one midwife who visits frequently.

I can attend NHS appointments with you, be with you during labour and birth in hospital, but also be with you at home. I am always happy to chat, within obligation at all, so please feel free to reach out if you want to know more
