Did you know that probiotics – found in yoghurt, sauerkraut and kefir – support healthy ageing? The British Dietetic Association reports probiotics can: help shorten the duration of colds; improve responses to certain vaccines; and relieve constipation and bloating in some people. As promised, here are photos from our Temple Grove Dog Show, held as part of International Dog Day on 26th August. The red carpet was rolled out for Dotty, Gino, Poppy, Louie and friends – all proudly parading in front of our resident judges. While points were awarded, there were no losers on the day. Every dog went home with a goodie bag and plenty of fuss, while our residents took on the role of judges, mingled with owners and helped keep the tails wagging. Crufts can wait… this was our kind of dog show.

Say hello to Bertie – our very own Temple Grove dachshund and much-loved member of the family. Pets play a powerful role in healthy ageing, from lifting spirits to improving brain health, and the science backs it up. That’s why animals remain a heart-warming (and wag-tailing!) part of life here at Temple Grove Care Home. Time to get yourselves ready for International Dog Day celebrations on 26th August. Did you know that French is officially spoken on every continent? Well if you had been lucky enough to join our French Day last Friday you would! As well as a quiz, we enjoyed drawing, a delicious lunch featuring favourites from France and later on… yes, Moulin Rouge with a verre de vin in hand. Ooh la la, don’t mind if we do!

Check out the process we followed in our Sketch and Paint Class with Toby – from the original inspiration through to the finished pieces, proudly displayed against an oak tree in the Temple Grove gardens. Living in our peaceful corner of Sussex, we’re lucky to spot deer so often… so it’s no surprise they became the stars of our artwork.

The Temple Tones have taken to the stage for their very first concert – and they sang their hearts out! This new initiative from our General Manager, Eileen Allison, has already brought so much joy to residents, families and staff alike.
From Any Dream Will Do to Country Road, our 12-strong choir of men and women filled the room with harmony, heart and plenty of smiles. A special mention goes to Emma, whose musical theatre training shone through in every note. Families joined residents to share in the joy, and the atmosphere was truly fabulous.
We’re already looking forward to the next one… with plans for three concerts a year, there’s plenty more music to come.

Our Gardening Club is in full bloom with the help of our fabulous volunteer, Keith. Thanks to our specially designed raised beds, everyone can get involved – planting, tending and enjoying the fresh air. It’s amazing what a little sunshine, soil and good company can do.

Hot off the press! We are delighted to share that Temple Grove Care Home recently had a Health & Safety Site Visit. The good news? We were fully compliant in all 71 areas inspected and no recommendations were made. In fact, the inspector said we are the first care home they have ever visited that has achieved this level. The bad news? Well… there isn’t any!
