The ideas are becoming a reality at Olive Tree House and Rose Garden as work begins on the upcycling fashion show garments. What will be made out of newspaper?!

If anyone does have any clean and wearable items of clothing and haberdashery they can donate that would be amazing. Every Monday afternoon will now be the home's fashion workshops from 2-4pm, everyone is welcome even if just to give ideas and enjoy the company!

What a lovely couple of days out in the community with residents and team members from Allegra Care's Winterbourne homes.

Winterbourne Library had such a lovely buzz with queues of children now on their summer holidays signing up to the The Reading Agency Summer Reading Challenge. Residents from Blossom Fields and The Grove commented on how lovely it was that children were still interested in reading. The residents also did some of their own reading while enjoying a cuppa, biscuits and company at the coffee morning by looking at books on the history of Bristol.

The outing didn't end there they couldn't walk past Rose Bud who is part of this summer's Gromit Unleashed trail without taking a photo! There was a queue for photos as Bristol enjoys another summer of these fabulous Wallace and Gromit characters all around the area raising funds for the Wallace & Gromit's Grand Appeal at Bristol Children's Hospital.

Today residents from Blossom Fields and The Grove enjoyed their monthly visit to the local Memory Cafe run in conjunction with South Gloucestershire Council and Alzheimer's Society with a talk from Avon Fire & Rescue Service. On the walk there one resident met an old neighbour who was pleased to see how well The Grove's resident was looking.

The homes have also been invited to Winterbourne Library's Teddy Bears Picnic on Friday 15th August which is part of a number of events being run in conjunction with the Summer Reading Challenge. If families would like to join in the fun it starts at 12pm at Winterbourne Library, bring your own lunch and teddy with tea and coffee provided.

At Fordingbridge, the team go above and beyond to make each day enjoyable for residents—and that includes getting involved in the daily running of the home! Today, one resident decided he’d like to help out on reception, and of course, the team were more than happy to let him jump in. He took a turn answering the phone and got a feel for office life, bringing smiles to everyone around.

Residents and staff at Dunwood Manor and Waverley Lodge have been soaking up the sunshine and embracing the tropical vibes with a Hawaiian summer party for residents, families, and friends of the home!
Dunwood Manor's garden and home are beautifully decorated with vibrant colours, and everyone has got into the spirit with colourful leis and fun novelty glasses. Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ, refreshing drinks, and fabulous entertainment from the home’s favourite performer – – who has everyone singing and dancing along.
It has been a wonderful afternoon full of laughter, sunshine, and island-style joy – great fun was had by all! 🌴🍔🎶

📣 Exciting News from Fordingbridge Nursing Home! 🧁☕️

Fordingbridge Nursing Home has recently launched the Allegra Care Household Model – a person-centred approach that encourages residents to engage in meaningful daily activities, helping them regain a sense of purpose and continue enjoying the hobbies and interests they love.

As part of this new model, residents spent a delightful afternoon making cheesecakes from scratch! From mixing ingredients to watching them set, they enjoyed every step of the process – and of course, the highlight was sharing their homemade creations over afternoon tea.

A wonderful example of how daily living can still be joyful, purposeful, and filled with flavour! 💜

🌿 It was a lovely Friday for some of our Dunwood Manor residents! ☀️

Margaret and Jeff, who have been happily married for an incredible 70 years, enjoyed a delightful outing to Banbridge Garden Centre. They spent time browsing the beautiful displays before enjoying a relaxing pot of tea at the café – a perfect little escape. 🫖🌸

Meanwhile, Sally and Johnny made the most of the sunshine with a trip to Carlos for some delicious ice cream, followed by a peaceful stroll around Romsey Memorial Park. They spent the afternoon reminiscing and soaking up the warm weather. 🍦🌞

Smiles, sunshine, and sweet moments all round! 💛

Olive Tree House and Rose Garden's Hawaiian Summer Party is a month today and to get everyone feeling summery Activities Coordinator Liz created an Hawaiian Mocktail Trolley. Going around each home residents loved being served a drink from the colourful trolley. It was a fun afternoon, but also kept everyone hydrated in the hot, humid weather.

It is a fact that when food and drink is well presented it entices everyone to enjoy more and nutrition and hydration is so important for older people. Food and drink is at the heart of the Allegra Care Household Model, moving away from set times for food and drink, not everyone will want a drink at the same time or the same drink! It is all about choice.
