The Christmas crafts have begun at Blossom Fields!

These gorgeous Christmas wreath pictures will add to the Christmas decor around the home. Cleverly created by painting with plastic forks these wreaths look brilliant with trimmings added.

Rehearsals began this week for the carol singing performance at the Olive Tree House and Rose Garden Community Coffee Morning on Friday 19th December. To get in the Christmas spirit the festive hats and headbands were out!

The fabulous students from SGS College Industry Placements joined in including playing a part in the 12 Days of Christmas. A very enjoyable afternoon, but all agreed more rehearsals are needed!

It has been a week of being out and about in the Winterbourne community for residents of The Grove and Blossom Fields.

It was the last Winterbourne Memory Cafe of the year so there was an early Christmas celebration with mince pies and lots of classic Christmas songs. The 12 days of Christmas with actions was an absolute hoot! It was a joy to have a room filled with laughter. Thank you to Hannah and Gemma from the Alzheimer's Society for another great year of cafes, all the volunteers who make everyone so welcome and make so many cups of tea and coffee and to South Gloucestershire Council for supporting such an important community group.

The library coffee morning also had plenty of laughter this week. Family members often join their loved one and the team at these coffee mornings, it really is the more the merrier. Everyone is looking forward to the library's Christmas coffee morning on the 10th December.

It was a musical week at Blossom Fields with live singing from Andy T and It Takes Two. Spirits were high and both performers got residents boogieing and singing along, and what fun everyone had - including the team!

The Victorians began so many Christmas traditions we still hold dear today so it is very apt that the first records of ownership for The Grove date back to 1837, the year Queen Victoria ascended the throne. The Grove is a real home from home and this week with the stunning Christmas decorations in place there is a fabulously festive traditional feel all around.

Tickets are now on sale for The Grove's Hamper Raffle.

Tickets are available from The Grove office at £1 a strip with all proceeds going towards the fund for an interactive device for the home.

There are six gorgeous hampers as prizes with something for everyone; two for children, two with Christmas food and drink, one with just food without any alcohol and one with just alcohol! There are also some individual prizes so plenty of opportunity to win. Thank you so much for all the donations.

The raffle will be drawn at The Grove's Christmas Party on Monday 22nd December.

Olive Tree House and Rose Garden's latest newsletter has all the information about the homes' Christmas events. December will be a busy month with parties, events and celebrations in the home. On Friday 19th December the homes will be hosting a Community Coffee Morning in the Concorde Cafe. Things are getting fabulously festive at The Grove with the Christmas decorations going up all around the home. Residents have really enjoyed selecting the decorations for each room and were keen to continue the festive preparations so started to sort and wrap presents. The gifts were beautifully wrapped there are some skilled elves in residence! 🎁

It was so long, farewell today as Blossom Fields enjoyed their final performance from Frankie Johns. Frankie has performed at the home for many years and residents have enjoyed his singing and joviality, he really is an all round entertainer. Everyone got moving at Rose Garden with some gentle exercises designed to enable everyone to join in, although the balloon tennis did move things up a gear!

It is important to keep moving and the activities team adapt to each residents making sure the exercise is also fun!
