The Basics Of Diag If you can understand the basics of automotive diagnostics, complex issues become that bit easier....

Bypass testing a boost control solenoid on a 2012 Vauxhall Astra 2.0CDTi using a washer pump.
This tells me the wiring is good, it has to be to carry current to operate the washer pump.
Next step is to scope the power supply and ECU controlled ground to see if there is a PWM signal. If PWM and power supply are present then boost solenoid needs looking at more closely.
PWM wasn't there with boost solenoid in the circuit, it was with washer pump though.
Measured current draw of solenoid and was approximately 1.5A (this seems too high, wouldn't expect more than an amp.)
Resistance check of solenoid revealed it to be less than 1ohm. I know for a fact these should be in the 15ohm region.
So current draw is too high causing ECU to shut control of solenoid down, some kind of over current protection.
New solenoid it is then.
