St Mary's Hospice

St Mary's Hospice Thanks to our community we can continue to make a difference when it matters most At St Mary's care is provided free of charge, but it is not cost free.

St Mary's Hospice is the dedicated provider in South Cumbria of comprehensive specialised supportive and palliative care for people with advancing illness. Our facilities and services are available to all adults who are facing the end of life, and to their families, carers and the bereaved. Patients with life limiting illnesses are cared for at the Hospice, as inpatients or by attendance at day clinics or therapy sessions, and - increasingly - at home. We care for patients facing the end of life, regardless of diagnosis, and for those who love them. Patients and carers may access our holistic programmes, addressing physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs, at any stage of an illness. Just to maintain our current services costs around £3.5 million a year.

When Patrick decided to celebrate his birthday, he chose to do something a little different...

Instead of gifts, he asked friends and family to donate to St Mary’s Hospice — raising almost £600! Turning his special day into something that helps bring comfort, dignity and care to others in our community.

Thank you, Patrick, for choosing to celebrate in such a thoughtful way 💙

If you’re celebrating something special, you could do the same — Celebrate to Donate and help make a difference when it matters most.
