Learn to sail weekend .. 2 day programme August 15th and 16th 2026
Learn the basics of sailing with our RYA Level 1 course. No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to have fun and get on the water.
This 2-day introductory course is designed to help beginners gain confidence on the water. Using beginner-friendly boats, you’ll develop the foundational skills needed to handle a small dinghy safely and enjoyably. The course focuses on understanding basic sailing techniques, and achieving your RYA Level 1 certificate. You’ll also learn essential safety procedures, launching, and recovering your boat.
What to expect
• How to sail in all directions relative to the wind
• Basic steering, sail handling, and boat control
• Launching and recovering a dinghy safely
• Understanding basic sailing rules and safety on the water
• Building confidence and independence afloat
Venue: Windermere
Timings: 9 – 5 pm each day.

It’s not about sitting in a room talking.
It’s about doing, learning, and regaining confidence through action.
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is a 2-day, hands-on training course designed to teach you how to safely and confidently operate a powerboat.
No prior experience needed.

Only 9 spaces available.

RRP £350+; Veteran cost £100, which includes the course, accommodation for Saturday night, and food.

Heads up - 2-day RYA Level 1 Dinghy course on Lake Windermere - 15/16 August for veterans RRP £350. Our funders have heavily subsidised this course, and it will only be £100 per veteran - the fee includes the course, accommodation on Saturday night and food. More details to follow.

Veterans Connect North are looking to hold another course before the summer is out.
