Hi everyone,

Last month, I was inited to speak at a coaching psychology conference and explored the topic of Psychological Discomfort. This is all the thoughts, feelings and other mental 'stuff' we don't want to experience.

In my presentation, I explained how it shows up and how it gets in the way of us being the kind of person we'd like to be. I explored how I bring the principles of ACT (acceptance and commitment theory) to life in coaching, and how to specifically address the topic of discomfort.

Learning how to effectively and sustainably navigate and permit through discomfort is a key life skill, opening up opportunities to reach our full potential. So I'm really keen to get the message out to as many people as possible.

I had a lot of follow-up questions about seeing the presentation, but it wasn't recorded on the day. So I recorded my own version and I'm sharing it below - let me know what you think and if you have any follow-up questions.

Thanks for watching!

Richard

In the latest podcast episode, Richard is joined by fellow coaching psychologist Lucie Ilbury, for a discussion about some of the common pitfalls to avoid when it comes to values.

While it's incredibly useful to be clear on what matters to us in life, there are a number of ways we can unintentionally mis-use our values.

We look at conflating values with goals, treating values like rules and expecting our values of others - and much more.
