HPV positive and abnormal cells
Around 4 in 100 people have this result.

It means we found high-risk HPV in your sample and abnormal changes to the cells of your cervix. Your results letter will explain this in more detail.

We’ll refer you for a colposcopy. It’s like cervical screening, but it’s done in hospital. A specialist nurse or doctor will look at your cervix using a magnifying lens. This is called a colposcope and it stays outside of the body. If needed, they may take a small tissue sample called a biopsy. You can read more about having a colposcopy on NHS.UK.

Most people who have a colposcopy do not have cervical cancer.
Results for every 100 people who have cervical screening

The NHS records your result on a national database. This means we can compare your regular screening results. We will keep your sample for 10 years.

During warmer weather, remember to take care of yourself and others to reduce the risk of dehydration, heat exhaustion and other health problems.

Drink plenty, apply sunscreen often and avoid physical exertion and excess alcohol.

📢Referral Update - Please Read 📢

We understand that waiting to hear back after being referred can be stressful, and we’re getting more and more requests to chase referrals that have only been sent very recently. We want to reassure you that:

▶️ Once a referral is sent, it goes through a triage process at the hospital or service provider’s end. This can take time depending on the service’s workload and capacity.

▶️ Some services have long wait times, and it may be several weeks before you hear anything.

▶️If you know the service you’ve been referred to, the best thing to do is wait a few weeks, and then contact them directly for an update.

You can check local NHS wait times here:

For Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals, select North West Anglia Foundation Trust.

Please know that we are doing our part to ensure that referrals are sent promptly - delays after we have sent the referral are unfortunately out of our control. Thank you for your understanding and patience. 💙

**WEIGHT LOSS INJECTIONS**

We are aware of all the media advertising around GP practices being able to prescribe injections to support with weight loss and we appreciate there is much confusion over this.

As a practice we have been informed we are NOT ABLE to prescribe these injections. This guidance is across ALL practices within Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, as per the guidance below.

However if you meet certain criteria we are able to refer you to a weight loss service, who will assess your needs and how best to support you.

In the first phase of the roll-out of weight management medications (between now and April 2026), people with a BMI of 40 or above (or 37.5 for people from South Asian, Chinese, other Asian, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean ethnic backgrounds), and with 4 out of the following diagnosed health conditions will be prioritised:

- Type 2 diabetes

- High blood pressure

- Heart diseases

- Obstructive sleep apnoea

- Abnormal blood fats

❗️❗️⚠️⚠️☀️☀️🔥🔥As the temperatures continue to linger in the late 20's, we're set to see temperatures reach over 30 degrees this weekend. As enjoyable as the warmer weather can be, high temperatures come with health risks, so it's really important to know how to keep safe and also know what to do if you or a loved one becomes unwell. Useful information on how to keep safe can be found here: ❗️❗️⚠️⚠️☀️☀️🔥🔥
