Although I’ve been a photographer for about 13 years+, I always used to hide behind my camera, and would be the most self-critical person at having my own photo taken, always picking up on little things I hated about how I looked. But I’m a firm believer in practice makes perfect and the more you do something the easier it gets. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, focussed on self-love, and I started to like myself in photos. That’s why I can relate to my clients when they’re really shy and nervous about having their photo taken. But I knew there was more I could help my clients with. In 2020 I trained as a Body Confidence & Wellbeing Coach with the Institute for Body Confidence Coaching (IBCC) and it was 100% the best thing I've ever done for myself as well as others. My aim is to empower and motivate you to be who you WANT to be. I want my clients to learn to love themselves and celebrate who they are, and I want that for you too.

Listen to Your Body – It’s Always Speaking to You

Our bodies are constantly communicating with us—if we’re willing to listen. Every sensation, every ache, every emotional response is a message.

Feelings are meant to be felt, not buried. When we suppress emotions or ignore what our body is trying to tell us, it doesn’t just go away. Instead, it finds another way to get our attention—whether through stress, tension, exhaustion, or even illness.

Think of those uncomfortable sensations like a nagging child. At first, they whisper, hoping you’ll notice. If you ignore them, they get louder. And if you keep pushing them aside, they eventually scream or act out in ways you can’t ignore.

Tuning into your body may feel uncomfortable at first, but it’s the key to true well-being. Take a moment to pause, breathe, and ask yourself:
✨What is my body trying to tell me today?✨

When you start listening, you can begin healing.

I’m sitting here being forced to rest on day 11 of a nasty cold virus that’s left me struggling to breathe properly and I’m feeling very grateful for my body ❤️

It often takes something drastic for us to appreciate something we take for granted.

This gratitude is partly due to me having to take a trip to see the out-of-hours doctor at Harrogate hospital at 1am last night, and partly due to working part time as a carer and seeing how some people struggle to do tasks we often find so simple, such as getting dressed.

I’ve been taking decongestants due to having a cold, as my instinct is to just keep powering through 💪🏻 because it’s only a cold! But this cold is literally the worst cold I’ve ever had. I’m now on day 11 and it’s only been getting worse...

What I didn’t realise is that if you continue to take decongestants for more than a few days, they actually have the opposite effect!! It only says on the packet “Do not take longer than 7 days... if you do not get better, talk to your doctor”. It doesn’t tell you that if you continue taking the tablets then you can actually become even more congested to the point where you can’t breathe properly. (I’m pretty sure I haven’t even taken more than 7 days worth and I’m still in this situation). The same goes for the nasal sprays.

I’ve been caring for mostly elderly people who can’t easily get themselves dressed, or have a wash, or even go to the toilet, and it makes me feel even more grateful to be able to do this part time ❤️ (in full PPE of course!)

“Feeling good is the primary intention”

When we chase a certain type of body, a goal weight, a dress size etc, it’s not the body itself we truly want.

It’s the FEELING.

Ultimately, we just want to feel comfortable in our body, we want to feel good about ourselves.

The same goes for material things, such as having a certain type of car, having an abundance of money, the house and clothes we want… it’s not necessarily the things that we really want. It’s the FEELING having those things will bring us:

Accomplishment, success, achievement… to feel good enough, worthy, connected, accepted, loved, satisfied, whole.

I see people who have reached their goal and they’re still not happy. Still not satisfied within themselves. It’s because it was never really about the goal they thought… it’s about feeling how they want to feel within themselves.

If you’re chasing a particular goal of having something, or reaching a certain size/look, think about the feeling you’re really chasing.

How can you create more of that feeling in other ways?

What tiny thing can you do every day towards feeling how you want to feel?

How could you be happy with what you already have and how you are in the present moment, whilst loving yourself enough to work towards something even better?

Punishing yourself to change is never going to work in the long run.

If you think of your body like your best friend, you don’t always have to approve of their behaviour or how they look but you always want what’s best for them.

I read The Goddess Revolution right at the start of healing my relationship with food, around 7 years ago, which was the start of my journey of self-love. Although, I didn’t understand a lot of it at the time and it’s been a long journey of trial and error.
I’m now re-reading it, inspired a lovely woman I’m mentoring on the .app and understand it a whole lot better.
So it just goes to show it’s well worth re-reading books as you can uncover new gold nuggets of information you didn’t understand the first time round.

1. You are not broken and you don’t need to be fixed :) It’s my job to ask the questions and provide the tools, exercises and ideas so that you can find the answers within yourself.

2. I will help you to feel more fulfilled in your daily life, as well as work towards any bigger goals you may have. I’ll help you to see how you can be happy in yourself without necessarily having to change your body in some way.

I recently got invited back for an interview on Jonny Pardoe’s podcast, “The Self-Esteem & Confidence Mindset” 🥳

We talked about loads of stuff to do with confidence and self-esteem, including camera confidence, why I do what I do, the power of raw cacao, people pleasing, peri-menopause, and gratitude.

They creep up on you without you realising… others ask if you’re ok and you say you’re FINE.
(AKA Feeling Insecure Neurotic and Emotional!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But inside you’re questioning EVERYTHING, feeling really anxious and generally feeling insecure and doubting everything you’re doing as well as who you are as a person.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I find I get intrusive thoughts/feel anxious when change happens and I get out of my comfort zone or I try to do things differently… even a seemingly small change such as wearing a new style out to a networking meeting that I’ve been advised really suits me, but isn’t my norm, or taking on some new work that I haven’t done in a long time…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I felt most out of my comfort zone when I relocated from Surrey to North Yorkshire and felt SO insecure. My confidence and self-esteem took a real knock. I was constantly saying to myself “what’s wrong with me?!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But the key to dealing with change and intrusive thoughts is self-awareness (understanding what’s actually going on and why you’re feeling this way), self-compassion and kindness towards yourself.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➡️ One thing you can do is write down your thoughts. Get out your journal and write down everything that’s worrying you. You can even respond to your worries by writing down your thoughts about how they might be imagined/perceived worries.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Breathe. Even follow a breathing exercise on YouTube.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then answer any of these questions:
✨How can you nurture yourself more?
✨What can you do to feel good?
✨What can you do to lift your confidence and/or mood?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stop trying to please everyone else and please yourself instead. Because you feeling good is important to being able to help others.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Take some more deep breaths.

Are you showing enough love to yourself and your body?

I’d love to share some tips with you for self-love, and you might improve your relationship with your loved ones at the same time as improving your relationship with yourself…

Maybe you’re where I was… overworked, feeling drained and depleted, giving too much to everyone else and trying (and failing) to please people to the point your body is starting to show physical signs of neglect, such as increased headaches, feeling exhausted, putting on weight, digestion issues, sore joints/muscles, keep getting ill…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your body is telling you that you need to give yourself more love!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Self-love is caring for yourself and putting yourself before others to be your best self FOR others. If you’re caring for others with your cup full instead of almost empty, you will be able to give a lot more to them.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The 5 love languages:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. ❤️ Physical Touch
These are things that make your skin and body feel good.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2. ❤️ Words Of Affirmation
Being kind to yourself with your thoughts and words and when you positively talk about yourself to others.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3. ❤️ Quality Time
This is your main love language if you love being in your own company and spending time enjoying your hobbies.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4. ❤️ Acts Of Service
This is when you feel good by doing things for yourself. These include tasks that need to be completed or things that have been neglected, which serve your well-being and make you feel good.

5. ❤️ Giving & Receiving Of Gifts
Maybe you feel best when you’re gifting yourself things that spark joy or treating yourself to things. This doesn’t have to always involve spending money.
