Sometimes even usual events like sharing a coffee with a friend or loved one can be incredibly difficult when battling an eating disorder. It stops you from living a fulfilling life and connecting with those you would normally want to spend time with. As Christmas approaches, the fear of eating with others can be overwhelming and negative thoughts about body appearance leads to controlling thoughts about ‘bad foods’ calories counting or obsessive weighing.

Many people ask me to explain exactly what CBT is or say they’ve had a poor experience of receiving CBT… Well Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a type of talking therapy. It’s a great treatment that can effectively help individuals move forward from a range of issues and emotional health problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings, responses and actions.
CBT is fantastic for learning new coping skills and learning new strategies for dealing with different problems.

So today is notoriously the one day of the year to celebrate and show our love for the significant others in our lives, however we often don’t recognise and appreciate who we are and what we contribute the other 364 days of the year.
Sometimes our relationship with food and eating negatively impacts this and stops us from recognising the really great attributes and qualities we possess.
