HIP FRACTURES are common in elderly population due to falls. These fractures should be treated as an emergency and must be operated as soon as safely possible. These fractures can be fixed with pins and plates if these are undisplaced. But for displaced fractures the best treatment is either a TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT or a HIP HEMIARTHROPLASTY. This 85 year old patient presented with a displaced hip fracture. Patient underwent HIP HEMIARTHROPLASTY. Patient started walking 24 hours after the operation.

HIP FRACTURES are common in elderly people due to falls. These patients must be operated as soon as safely possible. These fractures can either be fixed or replaced depending on the location of fracture. A very fit and active 70 year old lady presented with a hip fracture. She underwent TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT. Pre-operative digital templating is very important and was performed to estimate the size of implants for the patient. She was very happy with her surgery.
