Fancy spending a day painting by the river?

Following the popularity of our Artists’ Wellbeing Retreat last year, we’re delighted to be opening up bookings for our 2025 edition- on Sunday 6th July, from 9.30 - 4pm.

✨ The theme this year will be ‘reflections’ and hopefully the resident swans will join us for the occasion 🦢

✨ This event is small and intimate, limited to 10 places and will take place on the banks of the beautiful River Waveney.

✨ Your day will start with a coffee by the river, followed by our small group oil painting workshop; three hours of tuition and guided workshop from local artist

✨ All materials will be provided.

✨No previous painting experience is required but if you attended our event last year, we can take it up a level and experiment with new techniques.

✨ A delicious vegetarian buffet lunch, jam-packed with seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients will be provided by Bungay-based baker

✨ Round the day off with a sauna and a chance to relax by the river, or a dip if that takes your fancy…

✨ Meet some lovely like-minded people and come away with a beautiful piece to be proud of.

✨ Sun 6 July, 9.30 - 40pm. £90 per person for the day.

The Summer Solstice is two weeks away, and anyone who’s had an early slot at Secret Sauna will know that we face east 🌅

This will be the first time that solstice has fallen on a Saturday since 2020.

If you think you’ve got it in you to rise with the sun, bathe in the river at dawn and be immersed in the peace of nature, we have a couple of one hour slots remaining for Sat 21st June. These are at 6am and 7.30am. £75 for up to 8 people.

📣🌞S U M M E R U P D A T E 🌞📣

We’ve seen growing demand at Secret Sauna, with an increasing number of customers having to join our waitlist. As a result, we’re trying to find ways to accommodate more bookings each day and so we’ve opened up bookings at 30 minute intervals. This means anyone hoping to squeeze in a sauna this summer may have more success now 💪❤️‍🔥

🤫TOP TIP: if you’re new to Secret Sauna but eager to try it out, select ‘Swift Sauna’ which is our one hour session. This will provide you with a little taster (if you love it you can book a longer session next time) but most importantly you’ll be able to find more availability!

We have some other exciting news about plans at Secret Sauna to share with you in the coming weeks. So watch this space.

Summer Solstice is approaching! And once again, we’re releasing a limited number of one hour slots starting from 4:30am, on Sat 21st June. This is the first year since 2020 that the solstice has fallen on a weekend 🙌.

As these are special sessions they’re not available on our booking system so will need to be booked direct through us, via DM or email. £75 for up to 8 people for an hour. Available on a first come, first served basis.

A wren’s nest with 6 tiny eggs, hidden in the ivy by the bucket shower; a nest of song thrush fledglings exploring the path to the sauna - or the sauna polku, as it’s called in Finland; a family of swans on the water and this beautiful mayfly sheltering from the wind on our decking (📷captured today by ); bees in our wooded area and so many other insects that call this place their home...

Sauna island is literally alive with wildlife 🐝🪺

It’s an exciting week for the UK sauna industry ❤️‍🔥

Tomorrow sees the launch of the hotly-anticipated book ‘Wild Sauna’, written by journalist and sauna-expert . This gorgeous new guidebook, published by award-winning , unearths some of the best hidden sauna gems, profiling over 100 of us outdoor saunas, from the Shetland Isles all the way down to the tips of the Cornish coast. And of course including our very own, right here in the Waveney Valley. Delighted to be included, and listed as one of the best saunas for a sauna retreat.
