Homeopathy
Homeopathy is a complete and holistic system of medicine that considers the mental, emotional and physical aspects of the individual. It concentrates on the whole person as an individual not simply the disease or ailment and helps to restore healthy and vitality. Homeopathy comes from the Greek, 'homo' meaning similar and 'pathos' meaning suffering. The main principle of homeopathy is
'like cures like' (similia similibus curentur) which states that any substance causing symptoms to appear in a healthy person may help the same symptoms shown in a sick person. It was pioneered in the 18th century by Dr Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. Homeopathy uses substances from plant and mineral origins that have been ultra- diluted and succussed, making them non- toxic and non-addictive and therefore available to all. The remedies are in the form of small pillules or liquid that stimulates the body to heal itself and return to a state of healthy balance. Homeopathy has a wide application from first aid and acute illnesses; headaches, sore throats to chronic illnesses; eczema, IBS, anxiety. It is a gentle and effective way of treating those health issues that will simply not go away. It has been enthusiastically used by the British Royal family for 100's of years. It is recommended to maintain a relationship with a GP or specialist. Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient and non-invasive therapy that compliments the stresses of our busy lives. It dates back to Ancient Egypt, India and China but was first brought to the 'West' as zone therapy in 1913 by Dr Fitzgerald. He learned reflex areas on the feet and hands were linked to other areas in the body within the same zone. His discoveries were developed further in the 1930's by Eunice Ingham into what is now known as Reflexology. Using finger and thumb pressure moving over specific points of the feet, the body is encouraged to relax thereby promoting a sense of well-being. It promotes an improved blood circulation, nervous, endocrine and lymphatic system. In this way it assists the body's own natural healing energies and encourages the body to eliminate toxins and an accumulation of waste products thereby aiding a gentle return to a healthy natural balance. Reflexology works on the feet to assist healing on the body as a whole not solely on the presenting symptoms of the individual. Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe and should not be used as an alternative to seeking medical advice.
