Today to continue our celebration of different cultures we celebrated Egypt Day here at Midford Manor. There was a poetry class where residents read a selection of beautiful poems, a fun activity where hummus was made and boy how yummy it was. We followed that with a quiz on all things Egyptian.

Following yesterdays wonderful talk on birds by Bob Rogers who is a favourite speaker here at Midford Manor, we hopped on our Minibus and took a trip out to the bird sanctuary in Newton St Loe. We managed to dodge the summer showers and have a wonderful few hours out and about looking at the magnificent birds on display.

Whether it's learning a new craft or participating in a much loved hobby being creative is enjoyed by so many here at Midford Manor. After such a successful visit last time by Nick the potter we couldn't wait for him to return for another creative session. Residents had a wonderful time modelling with the clay. Nick also brought back the flowers that were made last time and put together to create a beautiful centre piece which he had painted a beautiful shade of red and is on display in our coffee shop for all to see.

Getting out and about is so important to us here at Midford Manor and some trips are so popular that we repeat them multiple times and tea with a pony was one of these that was so much fun that lots of residents wanted to go. Here's some pictures from this weeks trip for tea

On our terraces, we’ll top up your drinks, do the dishes, and make sure the chairs are always nice and comfy.

Well what an amazing day we had at the Lavender Farm yesterday. A wonderful stroll through the delightful fragrant sea of Lavender was enjoyed by Residents and team members and then we topped it off with tea, delicious cake and Lavender shortbread in the coffee shop

We were delighted to host an Art Exhibition at Midford Manor, this was a joint exhibition between Barbara who is a resident at Midford Manor and Laura who is the daughter of fellow resident Mary.

It was wonderful to welcome so many visitors to the exhibition and for Barbara and Laura to be able to showcase their amazing artwork.

Lots of the flowers used in Laura's work were grown in our wonderful gardens which is so great to see them displayed so amazingly.

Any one for Tennis!!! To get us all in the mood for the best two weeks of tennis of the year both Residents and Team members have been having fun in our cinema and across the home pretending they are indeed on centre court!

One of the residents has actually herself played professionally at Wimbledon so this brought back an awful lot of memories.

This week we took a trip out to The Holbourne Museum to take a look at the wonderful Turner Exhibition.

In the 250th anniversary year since his birth, this was a rare opportunity to see some of Turner’s finest watercolours from a private collection.

The exhibition showcases Turner at his most experimental and gestural. The selection of works also place him among notable contemporaries including Thomas Girtin and John Sell Cotman, to highlight the era of exciting developments in watercolour in which they worked. The collection of works encapsulates the transition towards looser, plein-air sketching, in which new directions, materials and techniques were being explored, building an impetus that validated watercolour as an expressive and serious medium.

Art classes are really popular at Midford Manor and many of our residents are very established Artists in their own rights so this was a real must see exhibition. Residents, their loved ones and team all thought this was a fantastic trip and it has been a topic of conversation in the home since our visit.

We are super excited to have an amazing art exhibition at Midford Manor tomorrow Friday 27th June between 11 am and 5 pm.

This is a joint exhibition between Barbara who is a resident at Midford Manor who was a founding member of Bath Society of Botanical Gardens Art group and Laura Jorgensen who is the daughter of a fellow resident Mary. Laura is a Bath based flower artist and a lot of the flowers in her work were picked from the beautiful gardens here at Midford Manor.

Over coffee in the cafe one day Barbara and Laura got chatting about floral art and the idea of a joint exhibition was born.

We look forward to welcoming you all to Midford Manor, come along and grab a coffee and cake and speak to both artists.

Ladies Day at Ascot was celebrated in style here yesterday at Midford Manor. Residents and team including our care team, reception, wellbeing and even our therapist all got involved together to make beautiful fascinator's to wear whilst watching the racing and talking about the amazing fashions on screen. The afternoon was topped off with a quiz and prosecco. What a fabulous fun time we had.
