Lovely day at the practice for the team. Dr Kev's first day back from leave and an incredible 51 patients today! And overall we continue to grow - in fact there was a 17% increase in consultations year on year for the period January to July.

Another Saturday and more non-attenders.

45 mins out of 120 mins wasted so far already this morning. Three 15 minute appointments which could have been used by other patients.

Extremely frustrating.

Very disappointing to have three more patients not attend their appointments today - no phone calls or emails received to cancel.

Further to our recent messages a final step will now be to take payment over the phone for any face to face or telephone appointment made by calling us. The appointment will not be booked until payment is completed.

FAILED ATTENDANCES

Whilst the overwhelming majority of patients attend their appointments and on time, there have been recent occurrences of patients not attending for pre-agreed minor surgery and other appointments.

This has happened again this morning with a one hour appointment having been wasted meaning we could have seen up to four patients during this time. This is particularly frustrating when we are fully booked. It is also costly from an income perspective.

With immediate effect all appointments must be pre-paid. This includes minor surgical procedures where the price of the procedure must be paid at the time of the minor surgery assessment.

We regret having to make this change but it is to ensure that we continue to maximise availability for our patients.

25 years ago this month I graduated from Medical School and it has been my absolute privilege and honour to work as a Doctor ever since then - including 22 years for the NHS in various roles. I love what I do and I hope that is clear to my patients by the way I deliver healthcare.
