All joking aside; you’d be surprised how easy it is to work on your push ups, sometimes all it is, is a case of doing small tweaks such as changing your hand positioning, keeping your elbows in at your sides and even just pulling your belly button in to engage your core more.

Ever wonder if you’re doing an exercise too slowly or too fast?

Here’s a few examples of good rep tempo aka the speed of what you do the exercise. For example a standard 2-1-2-1 is two seconds to get into the concentric phase (shortening of the muscles) hold for 1 second at the point of tension, then two seconds in the eccentric phase (lengthening of the muscles) then hold for a second lengthening.

The 3-1-3-1 is the same as above but you’re going slower in the movement to put more time under tension.

3-1-1-1 is a more explosive movement, this means in a push up lowering for 3 seconds holding for 1 seconds for the point of tension then exploding up and holding at the top end.

Ever wonder why the number on the scales doesn’t shift despite being in a kcal deficit & exercising?

Well one reason is when a fat cell depletes of fat, it fills with water as a place holder until the body realises it doesn’t need it, then whoosh the water is released, the cell shrinks & you get a drop on the scale.

Looking for something fun to do on this Friday evening? We have Boxercise Ltd classes here at Linnie Fitness, 6-7pm Mondays & Fridays!

Boxercise is an exercise concept based on the training methods used by boxers.
Sessions typically involve hitting focus pads and doesn’t involve hitting an opponent.

It is a fun, challenging and safe workout which is great for stress busting, accessible to all ages and fitness levels.

The 21/90 principle states that it takes 21 days to make a habit and 90 days to make it a permanent lifestyle change.

Commit to your goals for 21 days and it will become a habit, then stay consistent with things for at least 90 days to make it a lifestyle change.
