For a lot of people with high-functioning anxiety, the anxiety itself isn’t the real problem.
The root is usually something like:
• tying your worth to being capable, helpful or productive
• learning early on that staying “on it” kept you safe
• feeling responsible for other people’s feelings
• believing rest has to be earned
So you function. You achieve. You cope.
But your nervous system never really gets to switch off.
Healing (for me) isn’t about getting rid of anxiety.
It’s about listening to what it’s been trying to protect you from.
It’s learning you don’t need pressure to be okay.
That you’re allowed to feel safe without constantly proving yourself.
If this resonates, you’re probably not “too anxious”.
You’re just very, very good at holding it all together 🤍
