For a lot of people with high-functioning anxiety, the anxiety itself isn’t the real problem.

The root is usually something like:

• tying your worth to being capable, helpful or productive
• learning early on that staying “on it” kept you safe
• feeling responsible for other people’s feelings
• believing rest has to be earned

So you function. You achieve. You cope.

But your nervous system never really gets to switch off.

Healing (for me) isn’t about getting rid of anxiety.

It’s about listening to what it’s been trying to protect you from.

It’s learning you don’t need pressure to be okay.

That you’re allowed to feel safe without constantly proving yourself.

If this resonates, you’re probably not “too anxious”.
You’re just very, very good at holding it all together 🤍

Tell me you’ve got high functioning anxiety without telling me you’ve got high-functioning anxiety 🫠

I’ve been doing most of these for years and genuinely thought it was normal. Turns out running on pure stress and calling it ‘being organised’ isn’t actually how everyone lives.

Anyway if this is giving you flashbacks to sitting in your car 15 minutes early having a small crisis, you’re in good company.

Let me know which one called you out x

This isn’t procrastination. This isn’t being “bad at texting.”

This is hidden anxiety at work 🥹

It’s your brain trying to manage EVERY possible outcome before you hit send. And because it looks like nothing on the outside, people have no idea how much energy it actually takes.

This is the perfectionism that makes you rewrite “sounds good!” five times.

It’s the people pleasing that has you analysing tone like you’re defusing a bomb 💣

It’s the OVERTHINKING that turns a simple response into a 20 minute internal negotiation about whether you sound too eager, too cold, too much, or not enough.

Hidden anxiety is EXHAUSTING work that no one sees.

They just see someone who “takes a while to respond.” They don’t see the mental gymnastics, the drafts, the anxiety about being misunderstood, the fear of coming across wrong.

If this is you… your brain is just working overtime to keep everyone comfortable, including the version of you that you think everyone expects.

But maybe today, you can send the text without the 47 revisions. Maybe “sounds good” is actually... good enough.

Anyone else’s body just...on edge for no apparent reason?

You’re not imagining it. Hidden anxiety lives in your body.

It’s why you can feel completely fine mentally but physically feel like something’s off.

These physical symptoms aren’t random, they’re your nervous system stuck in a low-level alert mode.

And the frustrating bit? Your conscious mind has no idea why.

That’s because the anxiety’s running in your subconscious, your body’s reacting to stress and patterns you didn’t even know were there.

Your subconscious has just been holding onto things your conscious mind isn’t aware of.

If this is you and you’d like some help calming your nervous system, comment or DM “CALM” and I’ll send you something that might help.

Karina

I didn’t know I had anxiety for years.

To everyone else, I looked calm, capable, put together.

Inside? I was overthinking every conversation, over preparing for everything, drowning in self doubt, and saying yes when I meant no.

My body was struggling… air hunger, inflammation, constant aches, but I kept going because I looked fine.

That’s the thing about hidden anxiety. It’s real anxiety wearing a really convincing mask.

This lived experience completely changed how I show up for my clients. I know what it’s like to suffer quietly while appearing competent.

To doubt yourself constantly while everyone else sees your strengths.

If you’re reading this and thinking “wait, that’s me” you’re not alone.

With love,
Karina 🫶🏼

If you’ve been wondering why you’re so exhausted all the time even though you “look fine” this might be why.

Hidden anxiety is sneaky 👀 because it doesn’t look like anxiety.

🚩 It looks like being busy, being helpful, being “on it.”

But your nervous system? It’s been running at full speed for way too long and it’s feeling overwhelmed.

Can you relate?

Sometimes what you label as “just how I am” is really your nervous system doing its best with too much on its plate.

*The overworking.
*The pushing through.
*The irritability you feel guilty about later.

Your sub mind is running old safety patterns you’re barely aware of, and they quietly shape how you think, react, and show up… especially when life feels heavy.

And the moment you understand *why* you’re like this, things start to change.

Not because you “try harder,” but because you finally stop fighting yourself and give yourself permission to have some breathing space.

Ever notice how we never actually say “I’m anxious”?

We say “I’m tired,” “I can’t switch off,” “I just need to get on with it.”

And yet, that’s exactly what anxiety can look like…
quiet, sneaky, draining.

It’s okay to notice it. It’s okay to slow down.

You don’t have to wait until it feels ‘bad enough’ to take care of yourself.

With love,

When your anxiety switches on, it doesn’t just change how your body feels… it changes how your brain talks to you.

Little lies slip in…

“You’re lazy.”
“You’re too much.”
“You’re falling behind.”

They feel true because anxious thoughts are loud, repetitive, and urgent.

But they’re not the full story.

I always remind my clients (and myself):

✨Anxiety is a storyteller… not a truth-teller✨

Your brain is trying to protect you, not punish you.

Sometimes it just uses the wrong language.

📌 save it for the next time your mind gets loud.

You deserve kinder thoughts and a nervous system that feels supported.

Karina 🤎

Ever feel like everyone’s annoyed with you… even when you know that’s probably not true? 😅

Anxiety is like having a super sensitive radar for social stuff. Your amygdala (the part of your brain that detects threats) goes into overdrive.

A pause in a text? A shrug? A laugh in a group chat?

Suddenly your brain is shouting: “ALERT! They must be mad at you!”

And it’s even louder if you have traits like:

✨Perfectionism : you notice every tiny “mistake”

✨People-pleasing tendencies : you’re hyper-aware of how others feel

✨High empathy : you feel other people’s moods as if they were your own

Meanwhile, your prefrontal cortex (the logic part) is like: “Relax, it’s fine.”

But your anxious brain doesn’t always listen.
That’s why it feels so real and why anxiety makes ordinary social moments feel like high stakes drama.

💡 Reminder: You’re not annoying. You’re just wired to be cautious, empathetic, and conscientious and sometimes that comes with an overactive alert system.

📌 Save this for the next time your brain spins a story that isn’t actually happening.

Karina 🤎

Ever get those days where your body feels weird… but you can’t explain why?

A tight chest here, a dizzy moment there, buzzing arms, air hunger and your brain is like “???”

Here’s the thing most people don’t realise 👇

Anxiety often shows up in the body before the mind.
Not full on panic… just tiny nervous-system alerts.

80% of the communication between your body and brain goes up, not down…

So you’re not “imagining” it. Your body is literally talking first.
And those “random” sensations?

They’re usually just your nervous system saying,
“Hey… something feels a bit off. Can we check in?”

Not danger.
Not something wrong with you.

Just signals you were never taught to understand.

If your body feels weird for “no reason,” try the 5 things in this post.

They’re simple, fast, and stop small stress responses turning into all day spirals.

We don’t always notice how much our words matter… especially the stuff we say about ourselves.

Even when you say things like:

“I’m such a mess.”
“I always get it wrong.”
“That’s just me, isn’t it.”

Your mind takes it all in.

It doesn’t always get the joke, it just hears it as truth.

And the more we repeat these things, the more they stick.

So be kind with the way you speak to yourself.
You deserve that.

With love,
Karina 🤎
