Waverley Abbey Trust is a ministry, equipping people to love God, love their neighbour and love themselves. Our free Bible reading notes enable people to draw closer to Jesus every day and help them to live lives loving God and helping others. Waverley Abbey College delivers courses that focus on leadership, spiritual formation and mental health and wellbeing. Ranging from day seminars through to university validated undergraduate and postgraduate courses, there is a mix of online and onsite delivery. Waverley Abbey Resources provides publications, podcasts and audio, to further enhance the support and encouragement that we are able to provide to individuals, churches, the wider community, and the world.

The favour Moses experienced with the Lord was found simply in his willingness to obey whatever the Lord asked of him out of his desire for personal intimacy with the Lord. And the Lord’s response to such desire: ‘I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.’ WOW.

God’s overwhelming desire for us all is for us to walk with Him in personal intimacy. This intimacy was not reserved only for Moses but is for everyone. Just think upon Jesus and the twelve disciples – deep personal intimacy. Jesus said of them, ‘I no longer call you servants… Instead I have called you friends...’ (John 15:15).

Surely the greatest accomplishment of any Christian is not found in signs, wonders, and miracles, but rather in friendship with God.

How easy is it to really forgive? To extend the love and grace of God to those who have hurt us?
For many of us, forgiveness is difficult at the best of times. We want justice for our pain. Sometimes, if we are honest, we want more than justice: we want revenge. However, we are commanded by Christ not to seek revenge, but rather to ‘love your enemies, do good to those who hate you’ (Luke 6:27).

Forgiveness, and loving those who are against us, does not come naturally. There is an important perspective adjustment that we need to engage in as Christians to be part of this radical act. Reading Joseph’s story in Genesis can be illuminating for us, helping us adopt a perspective that makes room for Christlike forgiveness.
Joseph sees that his suffering was real, that the abuse by his brothers was evil, and that his suffering was not the whole story. God redeemed his suffering, making it a part of His plan to rescue many more lives. If we can learn to see our own lives through this dual perspective, holding space for both the pain and the purpose, then, like Joseph, we can learn to forgive and display love for others, including our enemies.
