It’s been a while since I’ve taken part in a race so was looking forward to the Great South Run, an iconic race I have never run before. The day didn’t start well when the park and ride was full and I was forced to drive into a heavily congested Portsmouth city to find somewhere to park. After a 3km walk to the event village, a 20 minute queue for a portaloo and dropping my bag off, I made it into my starting pen just 8 minutes before the start 🤯 The run didn’t go too well either, it was very wet morning, I was absolutely drenched within the first 5k and my body just didn’t have the energy for pushing hard for 10 miles, I was very happy just to get to the finish line. It was nice running around familiar places from when I worked there and amazingly I bumped into some Bicester pals at the finish line 😄 Not my best or favourite race but these days happen, that’s the beauty of running and sport, we learn, we dust ourselves off and we go again 💪🏻
