A new mural has been unveiled at Weavers Yard, Dundee, which was shaped by local residents’ voices.

The vibrant artwork by local artist Abi Baikie, and delivered by Hillcrest Homes, Caledonia Housing Association and Stobswell Forum, is inspired by the evolution of the area from working jute mill, to a place where people now call home.

Euan from our Perth Drug and Alcohol Peer Support Team recently joined the UNITY community CAFE peer led group for an outdoor wellbeing day at Do It Outdoors - Earthy Adventure.

Do It Outdoors provides guided outdoor experiences that focus on wellbeing, confidence and connection through nature-based activities.

The day offered a chance to build relationships, boost confidence and enjoy some fresh air in a supportive setting. The group took part in a range of activities including axe throwing, archery, fire building, wood whittling, and even had the opportunity to sample foraged plants picked in the woods.

It was a positive day of learning, teamwork and shared experience, highlighting the value of spending time outdoors and connecting with others.

Recently, volunteers from our Hillcrest Futures' Well Bean Cafes were recognised for their hard work and dedication with a fun day out at Hollywood Bowl in Dundee.

The Well Bean Cafes offer inclusive, stigma free spaces across Angus, bringing together people from a wide range of backgrounds. They are open to anyone in the community, including those affected by substance use, learning disabilities, isolation and more.

The volunteers enjoyed two games of ten pin bowling followed by a meal, with plenty of time to relax and connect outside of their usual roles. There was also some friendly competition, with a trophy for the best bowler awarded to Jessica Cull.

A big thank you to all of the volunteers involved. Their support continues to make a real difference in communities across Angus.

A thoughtful thank you to our Dickson Avenue team

Staff at our Hillcrest Futures Housing with Care service at Dickson Avenue in Dundee were recently presented with flowers from Linda Stewart's family, in recognition of the care, compassion and respect shown during her time with us. 💐

Linda first came to Hillcrest in April 2024, when she was supported at our Magdalen Yard Road service in temporary Step-Down accommodation after finding herself unable to return home for her personal safety. She thrived there but needed a more permanent home.

Through joint working with NHS Tayside and Caledonia Housing, Linda was successfully rehoused at Dickson Avenue in June 2025, with staff playing a key role in making the transition as smooth as possible.

With complex individual needs, Linda lived happily within her own limits. She sadly passed away peacefully at home on 9 March 2026, surrounded by her family.

Linda's son, Mark has shared the following with us: "I handed in flowers to all the staff, as I wanted to say thank you for the excellent care, love and attention my mother Linda Stewart received from all the staff at both Magdalen Yard & Dickson Avenue.

"I know my mum would also appreciate my gesture as really it was from her too. My mum loved everyone who cared for her at Hillcrest Futures very much.

"I have to say, in all honesty, my mother received the best care I could ever have hoped for from everyone involved, and I cannot thank them all enough. They all deserve huge praise for the job they do."

We're very grateful to Linda's family for their kind words and thoughtful gesture, and proud of the team for the support they provide every day. 💜
