You may have heard the Scottish Government has reformed the provision of NHS dentistry. This new system will commence on November 1st 2023.

The purpose of this post is to simply outline what the changes mean for you and your family.

1. Six monthly check-ups are no longer available on the NHS

The standard recall interval for children and adults for a free NHS check-up will be 12 months

2. We are committed to providing NHS services going forward

Can I still see a dentist every six months like before?

Yes. Should you wish to continue with six monthly check-ups, these are available at a cost of £40 for adults and £20 for children. Any treatment; such as a scale and polish can be completed at this appointment on the NHS and is in addition to the check-up fee. (Everyone will still be entitled to their free NHS check-up annually)

High Street Dental are delighted to announce the return of routine NHS dentistry from 1st April. This long awaited decision by the Scottish Government means both registered and unregistered patients are welcome to make an appointment for an NHS check-up, scale & polish and any subsequent treatment.

Please call 01899 221089 to make your appointment. Appointments will only be accepted by phone. Facebook or email attempts will not be accepted. Some COVID restrictions will remain in place for the provision of dentistry and we kindly ask for your patience and flexibility when booking appointments and attending the practice. (You may be seen faster if you're flexible with which dentist you see.)

We've been very busy behind the scenes installing another ventilated surgery to help work through the backlog! The new surgery had a final lick of paint today ready for the NHS restrictions to be lifted by the Scottish Government.....Fingers crossed we will be in touch very soon!
