Exciting news!

Our phlebotomy services at Merry Hill are relocating to our brand-new Merry Hill Health Hub.

Opening on Tuesday 21st October the new unit can be found on the Upper Mall adjacent to Next (formerly the Post Office!)

Here at The Ridgeway Surgery we have 3 advanced nurse practitioners.
Their names are Carolyn, Tina and Terry.

They offer various appointment times throughout the week including extended hours appointments on a Monday evening.

They can see patients for a variety of health needs and concerns such as anxiety, new joint pain and all minor ailments.

We are very fortunate to have such a variety of professionals to make up our team here at The Ridgeway.

The Ridgeway Surgery Patient Participation Group meets every other month to discuss surgery matters and support in new initiatives. If you are interested in joining the PPG please contact Reception.

Here at the surgery we have 5 nurses. They are Sarah, Louise, Helen, Beth and Elle.

Our nurses offer a wide range of appointments. We always have a nurse on duty between the hours of 9-5. Our nurses also offer extended hours appointments on Monday evenings, Tuesday mornings and Thursday evenings.

The nurses can see patients for long term condition reviews, NHS health checks, dressings, injections, ECGs and baby immunisations.

We have an incredible team of nurses here at The Ridgeway Surgery!

Has your child just started the new school term?

It’s a good time to check they are up to date with their vaccinations. Illnesses like measles and whooping cough can be serious, so to check for any missed vaccines, look in your child’s red book or speak to your GP practice.

The UK government is testing the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 7 September 2025 at 3pm. Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, make a loud siren-like sound and vibrate. You will not need to take any action.

The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there’s a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather. Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it need to be used in a life-threatening emergency.

Between May and July this year we welcomed the Healthwatch team into the surgery to pilot their new feedback system, whereby patients could post comment cards into a sealed ballot box. The surgery had no influence over this and only Healthwatch were able to access the ballot box and thus the comments made. Now the programme has ended they have kindly sent us a summary of our achievement. We are very pleased with the predominantly positive outcome and thank those of you who completed a form.
